DEAR STACY: I am curious as to whether Rosie O'Donnell has any acting or talk show work coming up? In other words, what if anything is she doing besides fighting with Donald Trump on Twitter? — Gerri3
DEAR GERRI3: O'Donnell always seems to have lots of irons in the fire, popping up in such disparate places as ABC's huge gay rights "event" series "When We Rise" in February (as Del Martin, co-founder of the Daughters of Bilitis lesbian civil and political rights organization), last year's "Hairspray Live" and game shows including "Match Game." She's recently had a recurring role on the Freeform series, "The Fosters," plus guest roles on CBS's "Mom" and Fox's "Empire." She had a featured role in a Showtime pilot last year that would have brought her back to the tube on a regular basis, but it didn't go forward.
DEAR STACY: Is there any news regarding bringing back "The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency"? I recall reading that the producers hoped to take it to a different network. I did enjoy the series very much. — N.D., Essex, Connecticut
DEAR N.D.: Afraid not. After the acclaimed BBC-HBO co-production, based on the stories of Alexander McCall Smith, was discontinued, there were hopes for its resurrection. A flurry of stories indicated some sort of activity in 2012, but nothing came of it. Meanwhile, stars Jill Scott and Anika None Rose have been busy doing other things. Most recently, singer-actress Scott signed to star, along with Queen Latifah, in a movie about the Flint, Michigan, water crisis for Lifetime. (The two played opposite each other in Lifetime's "Steel Magnolias" remake in 2012.) And Rose is about to star in a big screen thriller called "Assassination Nation."
DEAR STACY: I thought "Small Wonder" was a cute show back in the 1980s. Whatever happened to actress Tiffany Brissette, who played Vicki the robot on that show? — Jan R., Needles, California
DEAR JAN: Brissette, who worked as a child actress both before and after playing V.I.C.I. (for Voice Input Child Indenticant) on "Small Wonder," grew up and traded acting for medicine. She earned a psychology degree from Westmont College in Santa Barbara, California, and then went on to become a nurse in Boulder, Colorado. Now 42, she hasn't acted since a 1991 episode of "Equal Justice."
DEAR STACY: Whatever became of the actor who played Mark on "Roseanne"? — Babes44th
DEAR BABES44TH: Dublin-born Glenn Quinn of "Angel" and "Roseanne" died of a heroin overdose in December 2002.
