DEAR STACY: Could you please give an update on Amanda Bynes? — Shane R., Huntington, W.Va.

DEAR SHANE: The 27-year-old actress was released from rehab just before Thanksgiving, and has been snapped by photographers looking healthy and happy while out shopping with her parents. She told InTouch magazine that she is doing very well — a far cry from last summer, when she lit a fire in a neighbor's driveway while in the throes of a breakdown. The one-time child star-turned-popular grownup actress is due in court on Jan. 7 for a progress hearing in her ongoing DUI case.

DEAR STACY: I saw Dean Cain on the Hollywood Christmas Parade. What is he up to lately? Still a cutie. — Marissa B., Fullerton, Calif.

DEAR MARISSA: Come Jan. 10, the one-time Superman will be seen hosting Spike TV's "10 Million Dollar Bigfoot Bounty" show, in which hunters and others will scour the world for the famous Sasquatch. Kinda makes me feel sorry for the big fella. Sasquatch, that is.

DEAR STACY: We watched the movie "Because of Winn-Dixie" at a friend's and were wondering about the dog. Was he a mutt? — Jennifer R., Warren, Ohio

DEAR JENNIFER: No, Winn-Dixie was played by a French Picard in that lovely 2005 film with Jeff Daniels, AnnaSophia Robb and Cicely Tyson. Actually, two of the rare herding dogs shared the role. They were chosen because they have a mutt-like appearance, and the filmmakers needed to match the dogs used in different scenes.

DEAR STACY: Whatever became of Don Knotts? Is he still with us? — Mary M., New Port Richey, Fla.

DEAR MARY: No, the actor known as Barney Fife on the old "Andy Griffith Show" and Mr. Furley on "Three's Company" died in 2006 of lung cancer. Three times married, he left widow Frances Yarborough and a grown son and daughter from his first marriage.
