I want more than my two front teeth for Christmas; I want the soap operas to get a set of new implants.
In fact, my first wish is for transplants from "One Life to Live" and "All My Children." With Prospect Park no longing owning the rights to the shows, characters could check into "General Hospital." Frank Valentini, who produces GH, helmed OLTL from 2003-2012 — the year ABC canceled it. GH's CO-head writer Jean Passanante had the same post at "All My Children." While we do not want GH to become a hybrid of the two shows, it would be great to see a character or two to move to Port Charles. Roxy (the character, not the lizard) would be great. Her son Rex would be welcome. Since Ava is Roxy's daughter, it would be great to see the deeply flawed Ava mix it up with her once upon a time film flam bro. Since John Paul Lovisier as Philip on "Days of our Lives" ended this so week, it would be the perfect casting, allowing him to recreate the character he originated. The other present I want under the GH tree is the return of Steve Burton as Jason. No, Billy Miller does not have to leave. With Burton exiting "The Young and the Restless" next month, he could be available. So the guy we think is Jason is one of Helena's pawns. Sam is pregnant by and loves Faux Jason, but of course loves real Jason. Liz, who has always loved Jason, has hooked up with his archenemy Franco. Carly, Sonny and Monica would all be conflicted — guys, the story is writing itself!
For "Days of our Lives," another renewal is necessary. Please keep Andre front and center; hopefully Eric's return is for the long haul. And please fix this mess with Abby — I am starting to hate "it is all about me," Abby. Yes, soaps have the time to slowly play out stories, but they are taking so long with her that the process is making me wish the brat were dead. Do not ruin a great recast. More Lucas please — the character should not be around to support others, he needs his own plot. With Drake Hogestyn on the mend from his accident, let's see more John. We love Theo and his dealing with autism and family strife.
Thomas on "The Bold and the Beautiful" is pure Christmas joy. Get him out of his sappy romance with Caroline and pair him with firecracker Sasha. Nicole's "poor me" pout needs to turn to a smile — how about having her mix it up with Wyatt? Keep Eric in the spotlight, talk about a character turnaround!
"The Young and the Restless" needs less time in the boardroom and more in the bedroom. As for Ashley, when did she become the town busy body? Bring her romance with the return of Simon — played of course by Michael E Knight. Devon needs to grow a pair of jingle bells and stop being letting Hillary treat him like Santa's Elf.
For all the shows, I want lots of kissing under the mistletoe and hope for the New Year.
