Michael Muhney, who has played Adam on "Young and Restless" for four years, was told last Wednesday he had three more days to tape. His last episode will air on January 30th. Adam will disappear for up to six months.

When he returns, you will hardly recognize him. He will be played by a different actor. The saga of Adam has been interesting. Chris Engen was the original adult Adam from 2008-2009.

Engen's departure was allegedly due to "the dark direction Adam was taking" and an upcoming same-sex storyline. Engen said, "I felt generally unhappy about my contribution to the show and had greater and greater difficulty making any sense of the challenges they were asking me to face. I would also like to apologize to those of you who feel slighted by this choice, as I have been branded a "homophobe" by several members of the press. I do not ascribe to any one religious ideology, but do value the truth that exists in them all. I think the unfortunate assumption that has been made is that Catholics are intolerant of homosexuals on the basis of their Catholicism. Intolerance of anything is a product of one's underlying belief system as an experience of limitation. Homosexuality is a quality of beingness: one of many qualities that make up the rich diversity that humanity expresses.

So Muhney took over. The MENSA member has always been vocal. Vocal on twitter, vocal on the set. Since the firing, there has been all kinds of speculation as to why. We do not do specualation. Some reporters do, and they have suggested that another actor on the show got him axed. That is not how it works, folks. Only one mega star soap actress has been able to get a co-worker fired. It was years ago. The actress was uneasy about love scenes with her soap paramour because he was gay in real life. She feared she might get AIDS. Not!

The actor said he would sue the network unless they guarated him a job on another soap.

He got the job and stayed until the show was canceled.

Many "Y&R" actors have taken to twitter saying not to blame Sony, CBS or executive producer, Jill Phelps. Folks behind the scenes say there is much more to the story, and when it is told, everyone will understand.

Also out the door is Hartley Sawyer (Kyle). Sawyer took over for Blake Hood. The re-cast did not work. No word on if Kyle will be replaced.

And the next person to be chopped is Katie Couric. Her talk show "Katie" will be gone after its second season. Before her first season started I thought and wrote that the show would not work. First, we are being talked to death. Katie was not happy with the way the show was going. She wanted to do hard news, and her producers thought fluff was a better idea. Her mentor, Jeff Zucker, left the show to head up CNN. Couric went through a myriad of producers in the show's first year. Couric's take for the gig was abut $10 million a year. Taking a $4 million cut, she heads to Yahoo to be their "anchor face," whatever that is. Even Yahoo does not know. They are banking that Couric's face and name will draw throngs. It did not work at CBS when she was nighttime news anchor, nor did it work for ABC. Maybe the third time is a charm.
