If you thought I was going to be the only writer in the universe to not talk about Will Smith slapping Chris Rock at the Oscars, you were wrong. So, we know this: Smith became angry when Rock told a tasteless joke about wife Jada Pinkett Smith's hair issues. She has alopecia, which does not allow her to keep or grow hair. Not fun. Rock made a "GI Jane" joke — not funny but not a slapping offense. Smith smiled as first and then slapped Rock in front of millions of viewers worldwide. This year's Oscars had nearly four million viewers.

The funny thing about the Oscars is that no one remembers who won the day after — but they do remember the scandals. A streaker once dashed on stage while the very upright David Niven was about to introduce Elizabeth Taylor.

Smith can be very charming. I interviewed when he was at the height of his "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" fame. I went to speak to him. "Don't bother with me. This is the guy who made it work," he said. He took me over to DJ Jazzy Jeff. After that, he gave me an interview. Pretty special.

He has apologized for his actions with Rock. Too late. As my grandfather used to say, "Words are like letting feathers out of a pillow. No matter how hard you try, you cannot get them all back." Sadly, and most likely, this will be Smith's slipping on a banana moment. Several soap stars have had the same fate. When two actors on "The Young and the Restless" had a slap fest, everyone was talking about it. That day, I was on "Geraldo." Both actors were also there. He asked about the incident. Thanks, Geraldo. I sidestepped it. I wasn't getting into the middle. Both actors were suspended without pay for two weeks. Ouch.

Tyler Christopher (ex-Nikolas on "General Hospital" and ex-Jake on "Days of Our Lives") had a very up close and personal talk with Maurice Benard on Benard's YouTube series "State of Mind," which deals with emotional issues. Christopher talked about having his first drink at 9 and never stopping until last year: "I almost died three times because of liquor. Twice I coded." He also talked about hitting his head on a bathtub and losing his consciousness. He also opened up about living on the streets and eating garbage: "I am playing this golden rich boy and my life was not golden." He is optimistic. He has recently filmed two movies but says an alcoholic has to always be on guard: "There is no 'I am fine' and 'it will never happen.' It is so easy to slip."

Renee Zellweger can put a place on her mantle between her two Oscars. She is a sure bet to win an Emmy for her work in "The Thing About Pam." It is based on a true story about an insane woman who cheats, lies and kills. The actress uses padding and prosthetics to create this off-the-trolley character. Just like Kathy Bates in "Misery," you cannot take your eyes off her. When she is off the canvas, you can only keep wanting to see her. The supporting stars Josh Duhamel and Judy Greer are amazing. But Zellweger dazzles.

Jordi Vilasuso (Rey) is exiting "Y&R" in spring. No word on how he is being written off. This is just a guess, but perhaps Chance, who is suffering from PTSD, may not have been ready to return to the police force; it may have been too soon.

Sadly, Susan Lucci's husband Helmut Huber, 84, died this week. Lucci was engaged to someone else when she met Huber. Goodbye fiance, hello husband. Unlike her character, Erica, on "All My Children," this was a one-and-done marriage that lasted decades. Erica had over a half-dozen marriages.

Bruce Willis is ending his acting career due to aphasia, an ailment that stops the ability to communicate. On press tours, he could be prickly. To me, he was smooth as silk. There are two elevators: One for the lowly press and the other for the star. I accidentally walked into the talent's elevator. Mortified, I stared at the ground and mumbled, "sorry." It was the day he had decided to end his marriage to Demi Moore. The press did not know that. The press is given four minutes to ask questions. Willis saw me and told the PR person to give me 15. She said, "We don't do that." He said, "They were for me." He explained he wanted to thank me for an apology I did not need to give. The next interview was with Mr. Muppet Frank Oz. I asked him what it is like to work with the world's biggest diva. I was trying to be clever. Never a good idea. He asked who the heck I was talking about. It was Ms Piggy. He gave me a "you fool" look and said she is a puppet. Thanks, Frank. Good to know.

"Y&R" star Mishael Morgan (Amanda) has suffered a horrible real-life tragedy. Her husband's brother, his wife and their three children died in a Canadian house fire. The gutted actress asks fans to go on the GoFundMe page and said all donations will go to funeral expenses. Dreadful. Her "Y&R" family is offering support.
