Now you see her; now you won't — after July. Kiara Barnes (Zoe, "The Bold and the Beautiful") is exiting the show. The actress, who joined "B&B" in 2018, has nabbed a major role on the "Fantasy Island" prime time reboot. The show, which starred Ricardo Montalban, ran for seven seasons. "Fantasy Island" was a place where everyone's wishes were granted; if not, another wish that would make them happier was. Herve Villechaize played his loyal sidekick, Tattoo. Each adventure started with Tattoo pointing towards the sky and announcing: "Boss, the planes! The planes!" Then a new adventure would begin. The show was such a part of the culture that "Saturday Night Live," when it was funny, had a character double for Montalban who said, "It is better to look good than to feel good" That became a catch phrase. Barnes will play a character that makes dreams come true. Brad Bell, the executive producer of "B&B," is not saying if the role will be recast or written out.
On "Days of Our Lives," Ciara exits Salem with Theo this week. Unable to account for her last two years and horrified that everyone insists she left with redeemed serial killer Ben, Ciara decides to flee town. Theo, who has been Ciara's bestie since childhood, feels safe going off with him.
After 57 years, "Days of Our Lives" may be canceled. It taped its last show next week and went on hiatus. Since the show is taped months in advance, it will have new product until July. NBC only re-ups the show on a yearly basis. "General Hospital," "The Bold and the Beautiful" and "The Young and the Restless" always are picked up for multiple years. Neither the network, the show or Sony who produces it have commented. No word on what would replace it. Talk shows do not seem likely. Heavy hitters like Katie Couric, Meredith Vieira and Harry Connick Jr. had short runs. "Ellen" has lost almost 20% of its viewers when it was revealed — what most in the industry knew — that the queen of nice was really the queen of mean. A Rosie O'Donnell reboot did not last a year. So, a game show perhaps.
Fans have to let the network know they want their show to continue. The sands through the hourglass cannot be stopped. "Days" is iconic. The first soap super-couple was not Luke and Laura but Doug and Julie. Bill Hayes (Doug) and Susan Seaforth Hayes were on the cover of Time before Genie Francis (Laura) and Tony Geary (Luke) were the "it couple." Hayes and Seaforth Hayes are like the characters they play. She is a spitfire; he is the hose who puts out the flame. I hade the chance to do a cameo on the show. I played a French nurse. My lines were in English. Hayes came over to me and said: "Lynda, this is dumb. Your character is from France not New Jersey." He translated my lines into French and gave them to me. My hero.
