Soap Opera Gossip

Jeff Zucker, her mentor at ABC, decided Couric would be a hit if she had her own talk show. The show debuted in September of 2012. In less than a year, Zucker left to head CNN. He took one of Katie's best producers with him. The show will run until June of 2014. The program ran through producers like water runs through a sieve.

One of the issues was that the vision Couric had for the show and what producers had were very different. Couric wanted to do "in the news" stories, producers thought lighter fare such as star interviews, cooking segments and showing Katie's disorganized home was the way to go. I may be wrong, but I think Couric has a housekeeper or staff to keep her things in place.

When producers did it Katie's way, the results weren't that good.

Viewers and health professionals panned a recent show about the HPV vaccine that can help stop cervical cancer. Katie took to Facebook after the online drubbing.
