In a ceremonial event held by Alaska Natives, a person was tossed into the air on a large walrus-hide blanket to celebrate a successful whale hunt. A playful version of the "Inuit blanket toss" lives on today — and now the planets seem to join in. The recent moves of Mars, Venus and Uranus lend an "up-in-the-air" feeling, best read as a cosmic celebration.
ARIES (March 21-April 19). You'll be reminded that you don't have to share the same interests to share common ground. When you both care deeply, laugh easily or think curiously, that's enough of a "shared interest."
TAURUS (April 20-May 20). You're well aware of what "too many cooks in the kitchen" does to the soup. And you've got far more going on today — six courses at least. So limit involvement. Maybe this one is just about you, the head chef, working alone.
GEMINI (May 21-June 21). Your enthusiasm won't always be naturally high. Low-energy days are part of the process. When passion doesn't show up, discipline will carry you through. Keep building habits. Daily practice and consistent rituals will eventually make progress automatic.
CANCER (June 22-July 22). It's OK for a relationship to be both good and hard. Holding that paradox without demanding resolution is emotional maturity. It's how long relationships survive and deepen. Joy and stress can be two sides of the same connection.
LEO (July 23-Aug. 22). You do not wish anyone to be inconvenienced on your behalf. You are already content and free to choose collaborations and arrangements of mutual benefit. If there is no joy in the transaction, it is not worth your attention.
VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22). Because you can tune your frequency to others, you can connect broadly on many levels including socially, creatively and professionally. Today shows you learning fast, fitting into new settings and acting as a bridge between worlds.
LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 23). You're in a phase of social and emotional shape-shifting. Don't mistake it for losing yourself. This is just part of your learning process. As your empathy expands and extends, you discover the many truths that live inside you.
SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 21). Just by being open, your presence has an impact. Your generosity will be felt everywhere you go; your warmth will ease a stranger's day, change someone's outlook or even start a chain of good decisions elsewhere.
SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21). You'll be affected by something in the culture. Only time can tell what's "important" to this moment in history, but you will know what's relevant to you; you can feel it in the moment. You'll be moved and impressed.
CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19). You see the target they want you to hit, but you'll question it, too. Goals are useless unless they count toward a larger purpose. Understanding the relevance of your work will strengthen your conviction.
AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18). Original thinkers like you sometimes forget how far ahead they are. Slow down long enough to explain, or better yet, to listen. When you make others feel included in the vision, it grows stronger and gains momentum.
PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20). Kindness doesn't always have to be about moral superiority or self-sacrifice. There are times when it's just easier to be nice. Also, being stuck in the story of who wronged you costs energy. That's energy you'd rather spend on living.
TODAY'S BIRTHDAY (Nov. 8). Welcome to your Year of Creative Fire. You'll blaze new trails in areas like art, communication and leadership. You'll turn experiments into successes; transform everyday work into inspired play. More highlights: Love is collaboration — muses sparking each other's brilliance. Finances grow through originality and the courage to ask for more. You'll give a presentation; people follow and pay you. Gemini and Libra adore you. Your lucky numbers are: 9, 18, 4, 44 and 28.
