Blue Moon Pre-Show

The pre-show to the Blue Moon is a cosmic rumble. On one side of the zodiac, there's the fit Virgo sun. On the opposite side, Saturn in emo-goth mode. The opposition is a role reversal: babies reason, adults ugly-cry, authorities give up and underlings call the shots. Mars moves to Libra to smooth things over when the tables turn.

ARIES (March 21-April 19). You don't always have to muscle through and make things happen on your own. The love and care you receive from others will buoy you. Joy from your personal life will leak into other fronts.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20). You said what you wanted and the universe heard. Now life brings you interesting plot twists and amusing tasks to lead you and your heart in a refreshing direction.

GEMINI (May 21-June 21). Every day is important, even lazy, do-nothing-go-nowhere days. In fact, days that lack activity can be even more important to your development as a human. They help you get perspective.

CANCER (June 22-July 22). You will soon have a wider audience and this smaller one is getting you ready, teaching you how to better serve others while also taking care of yourself. You'll sharpen your message and grow confident in your offering.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22). If only you could keep your emotions as tidy as a well-organized closet, you could pull out the appropriate feeling for the occasion. Alas, feelings are messy, haphazard and defiant. Don't worry, you can work with whatever comes up today.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22). You've only just begun. At the heart of the word "improvement" is "prove." In the weeks to come you'll build physical evidence that something is better than it was and then proudly show the world.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 23). Right now, you may feel driven to finish the job, but this will not always be the case. Create a system that will carry you through when motivation wanes. Tonight, be careful how you wield your attention. Someone is falling for you.

SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 21). There are many helpful thoughts you could think. The ones that start with, "If only I had..." do not fit the category. Whatever choice you made back there, it brought you here, the place where anything is possible.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21). Today is like a game of pin the tail on the donkey. You'll be kept in the dark, taken for a spin and determined to feel your way to the target. Whether you hit it or not, the limitations you're working with will make it fun.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19). You'll stumble into something that feels a little strange, but new things always do. Novelty will expand your mind. Take the "before" pic because this time next month you'll be taking the "after."

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18). Remember, every state is impermanent. Any sense you have that you know exactly who you are and what you want is but a fleeting moment. When you're fine with being a creature in flux, that's when life gets fun.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20). Others see something in you — mainly what they need and/or prefer. There may be some overlap between their projection and the qualities you actually possess. Even so, don't miss the chance to teach someone who you really are.

TODAY'S BIRTHDAY (Aug. 27). Though you're perfectly willing to rack your brain for solutions, this solar return's delightful gift will be full-formed and packaged ideas delivered right to you as regularly as a subscription service. Run with them! Watch the financial sector perk up. More highlights: You'll adjust your style to accommodate new roles. A silly coincidence starts a special relationship. Sagittarius and Capricorn adore you. Your lucky numbers are: 6, 8, 48, 27 and 4.

CELEBRITY PROFILES: In "Breaking Bad," Aaron Paul played Jesse Pinkman, who is among the most iconic science students in television history. More recently, Paul takes the science in a fictional direction. The Virgo star has been to the future in "Westworld," the multiverse of "Black Mirror" and to outer space with the upcoming "Ash." Paul was born when Mercury and Jupiter were in Leo, the sign of entertainment.
