DEAR STACY: What is Ty Pennington up to? Will he be on another show? Has he ever been married? I miss him on "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition." — Pilar S., Austin, Texas
DEAR PILAR: Peripatetic Pennington continues his travelin' man ways, with recent public appearances ranging from throwing out the first pitch at a Chicago Cubs game, to a chat session at last month's Birmingham Fall Home & Garden Show. If he has plans to return to TV in a regular way, they haven't been announced yet. The hunky carpenter, who plays it close to the vest regarding his private life, has never been married. He started dating his manager, Andrea — Drea — Bock in 2004. While some sources have had them breaking up in the last year or so, others have had them engaged. Pennington last year said he'd like to have a woman in his life and have a family one day.
DEAR STACY: How tall is Cat Deeley? She seems to tower over the contestants on "So You Think You Can Dance." Also, is she married, how old is she, and can you tell about her background? — Glen B., Warren, Ohio
DEAR GLEN: The 36-year-old television hostess, disc jockey and actress has been reported as 5'9" tall. She hails from Birmingham, U.K., and first came to the public's attention as a teenage fashion model. She married Irish comedian and television personality Patrick Kielty in September of 2012. Her delight in appearing on live TV began in England, where she honed her skills doing a morning show where she put in "three hours live, 52 weeks a year for six years," as she described it
DEAR STACY: When "American Idol" first premiered, there were two hosts, Ryan Seacrest and another young man. What is that other host's name and what is he doing now? — Tim D., Long Beach, Calif.
DEAR TIM: You're thinking of Season 1 cohost Brian Dunkleman. He was featured on "Celebrity Fit Club" and has done guestings on various other shows. He does standup dates around the country. He told Howard Stern during a radio chat that although he'd been depressed over his situation for months after his departure (he left, but reportedly would have been fired if he hadn't) — and still felt resentment toward Ryan Seacrest — he'd come to terms with his near-miss with "Idol" success and was happy with his life.
DEAR STACY: Why hasn't Jay Leno ever hosted the Oscars? They need someone who is funny and who appeals to a wide audience. He'd be perfect. — Rose M., White Plains, N.Y.
DEAR ROSE: Leno turned down the Academy Awards emceeing gig several times, believing that it would simply be too demanding to spend weeks preparing for the big night — which is typical of Oscar hosts — while doing the "Tonight Show." Maybe when he ends his late night reign, he'll wind up doing the Oscar show.
