DEAR STACY: I've been watching "NBC News" the last couple of months and I am curious about Lester Holt. Can you tell me a little about him? Age? Background? My co-worker says he's married to a white lady. Is that true? — Anastacia B., St. Louis, Missouri
DEAR ANASTACIA: The 58-year-old anchorman is a California guy who hails from Marin County and is a graduate of California State University, Sacramento. He worked on radio during his college years — a country western station. He moved to New York in 1981, hired by the CBS affiliate WCBS, returned to the Golden State in '82 to work at Los Angeles' station KNXT, moved back to New York the following year — then spent 14 years working in Chicago. His move to MSNBC came in 2000 and to NBC in 2003, the same year he registered as a Republican. He's anchored the "NBC Nightly News" since June of 2015. He and Carol Hagen, who works in real estate and is indeed Caucasian, wed in 1982. They have two sons — Stefan, who is also a broadcast journalist, working for WNBC; and Cameron, who is a New York-based financial analyst. The well-regarded Holt makes a reported $4.5 million and is a regular church goer.
DEAR STACY: Is it true there is going to be a new version of "Charmed"? — TW1988
DEAR TW1988: There is a "prequelish" reboot in the works — a one-hour pilot on order at The CW with Executive Producer Jennie Snyder Urman of "Jane the Virgin" fame running the show. The characters are new: smart, intense, tough (yet desperate for love) Annie; cheerful, wholesome Paige; and cerebral, discerning, seemingly reserved Tina. We'll see.
DEAR STACY: When is the next "Star Wars" movie coming out, and what are they doing about Princess Leia what with Carrie Fisher's death? — Jan W., Plano, Texas
DEAR JAN: "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" is slated for a Dec. 15 release. Carrie Fisher completed her scenes in the film before she died this past December. Speaking at a recent conference, Disney CEO Bob Iger said, "Her performance, which we've been really pleased with, remains as it was."
DEAR STACY: Are they going to continue "Training Day" without Bill Paxton? — Roger_P
DEAR ROGER_P: Officially, no decision has been made as to whether the CBS series will go on, though it has been made clear that the late star's role will not be recast. With "Training Day" being moved from Thursday nights to the less-desirable timeslot of Saturday nights at 9 p.m. as of April 8, I wouldn't bet on a season two.
