The Democrats' Secret Weapon

She is just about the best thing that could have ever happened to the Democratic Party, the reason why they may retake the White House in 2008, the person who will finally make most Americans see just how destructive conservative extremists can be for this country.

No, it's not Hillary Clinton.

It's Ann Coulter, the fire-breathing, mean-spirited, race-baiting, gay-bashing, hate speech specialist and darling of conservative extremists.

Every time this pathetic right-wing commentator opens her mouth, she spews industrial quantities of waste — and her vile rhetoric becomes a free commercial for Democrats.

No one is more qualified to discourage moderate voters who might be considering supporting Republican candidates. She is a one-person voter registration drive for Democrats. If she continues as a self-appointed spokesperson for conservatives, she will bury the Republican Party.

Some call her ignorant, a bimbo, misinformed and not very bright. But nothing could be further from the truth. Her inflammatory remarks are never accidental and misspoken. They are quite deliberate.

If she was doing it out of ignorance, one could argue that the poor woman doesn't know any better. But this is a conniving, calculating, self-absorbed Fascist who will say anything outrageous just to get back under the spotlight.

In her most recent attempt to draw attention to herself, Coulter, addressing the Conservative Political Action Conference last week, viciously attacked Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards.

Coulter said she was going to talk about Edwards, "but it turns out you have to go into rehab if you use the word 'faggot.'"

Although the classless remark has been condemned by both Democrats and Republicans, it was received with laughter, cheers and applause at the conference.

It says a lot about that particular audience, and how they are willing to take down the Republican Party for the sake of promoting their warped principles of bigotry and intolerance.

Coulter promotes herself as a liberal-basher, but she is the best secret weapon in the liberal arsenal. And what is best is that the idiots who support her don't even realize that she is burying them.

This bitter hatemonger is making a career out of creating controversy. This is the same heartless creature who, in her latest book, blasted some 9/11 windows: "These self-obsessed women seem genuinely unaware that 9/11 was an attack on our nation and acted as if the terrorist attack only happened to them … I've never seen people enjoying their husbands' death so much."

Like all pundits who have no good arguments to defend their positions, she resorts to mudslinging. With the sick divisive, insensitive ideals she represents, Coulter is obviously not capable of engaging in civil discourse. Instead, she mocks people in the most grotesque terms she can muster.

"And by the way, how do we know their husbands weren't planning to divorce these harpies?" she wrote about the 9/11 widows. "Now that their shelf life is dwindling, they'd better hurry up and appear in Playboy."

And then there are people who say that when Coulter does this, she's only joking — as if her hysterical rants could be dismissed as the work of a satirist or "political entertainer."

In fact, the only people she entertains are the ones who, like her, are particularly intolerant of certain groups of people. Many of her fans are the ones who would turn this country into another Nazi Germany.

And amazingly, this mindless intolerance is often promoted in the name of Christianity. Through her book, "Godless: The Church of Liberalism," Coulter sells herself as the champion of evangelical Americans.

Yet, when she speaks, she sounds like the Antichrist.
