Walking down the aisle toward the one you love, filled with anticipation and dreams of a lifetime of love and happiness -- it's a long and thrilling walk. While the bride metaphorically feels as if she were walking on a cloud, this can be actually be the case if she's happy with the shoes she is wearing!

Footwear is an important part of the wedding ensemble, helping the bride feel beautiful and fanciful. Some of the hottest styles can provide fashion and comfort while allowing the bride to truly personalize her wedding look.

Swarovski crystals and satin wedding shoes are among the more traditional options, but there are some non-traditional styles that will certainly catch the eye. Marchesa's black-feathered sandals, shiny black opened-toed heels with black lace anklets and an ankle strap making a dramatic statement and a perfect accent for black and white weddings. Jimmy Choo offers its Romy pointy toe pump in black glitter or silver/dusk blue with matching stiletto heel for a glittery dramatic effect. For pure regal elegance, check out the rose gold embroidered pumps from Oscar de la Renta.

Color is also making a splash on the wedding runway. Badgley Mischka's "Royal" crystal embellished peep-toe pump comes in a choice of bold colors including black, blue iris, ivory satin and red. Hannibal Laguna's wrap-tied satin sandals are available in a variety of soothing pastel shades. Dolce and Gabbana offers two styles of daring stilettos covered with its signature tomato red corded lace, each at a different height with a different crystal cluster. Sophia Webster offers the choice of a coco crystal ice blue satin pump or a coco crystal metallic silver both featuring a beaded crystal heel.

Depending on the bride's dress, height and comfort level, she can choose beautiful wedding shoes such as flat sandals or pumps with low, kitten, chunky or stiletto heels and even wedges or platforms. Even boots are made for walking down the wedding aisle. Check out the Thalia Sodi Rese sequin peep-toe booties or romeily lace-up evening Booties by INC International Concepts. The color of her footwear can match or complement her dress or its accents. There is no limit when it comes to the fabric and finish available, including see-through open lace, leatherette, silky satin, leather, suede, patent leather and velvet.

After all of the vows are said and the celebrating begins, the bride should give some of her attention to comfortable footwear for the dance floor. While heavy socks are a common alternative, they can cause the bride to slip, and they just aren't as fashionable as a shiny pair of inexpensive foldable flats, dressy ballerina shoes or wedding sneakers. Dance up a storm after the ceremony when the bride can kick off her heels in style and don a pair of sparkly canvas glitter Keds sneakers from Kate Spade or garner lace stone embellished slip-on sneakers from Antonio Melani. As an added bonus, foldable flats make a terrific and thoughtful gift for the bridesmaids, as well!

Choosing the right footwear depends on more than just the style, and there are so many choices available. Just because the bride-to-be falls in love with an elegant stiletto shoe, a pair of chunky platforms or sandals with wrap-around straps that threaten the circulation, she should still make sure that she can walk comfortably. The shoes need to be tried on for more than the few seconds it takes to find the right size. Can she walk in them without losing her balance? It's also important to be able to stand still long enough for photographs and, of course, long enough to take the wedding vows. Do the shoes fit the gown, can the bride walk with her chosen shoes without getting tangled in the tulle and lace?

Every bride deserves a perfect wedding from her toes and up.
