Ladling Out Some Alphabet Soup

Loyal readers have just scooped up the latest batch of errors in newspapers and other publications. Can you spot the blots?

No. 1: "Self-service food bars were closed to prevent too many hands on ladies." Were man "handles" a concern as well?

No. 2: "Investigators chased leads and spoke to witnesses as they honed in on Martinez's killer."

No. 3: "The farms around Gettysburg were strewn with bits and pieces of ordinance — cannon balls plus various kinds of shot and bullets."

No. 4: "(She) agreed to give the man anonymity if he returned the bronze sword and arranged for him to drop it off at her home along with his wife." An incentive to return it?

No. 5: "Politicians farm for the votes of confidently uniformed Americans." The military vote?

No. 6: "What's the best measure of whose ahead and which candidate is winning?"

No. 7: "There was speculation on what would have happened if the attackers had instead decided to move the financial markets or sew political chaos."

No. 8: "He should remain locally to maintain the stability of Jordan's current medication regiment." That's a lot of medications!

No. 9: "Because of its shear size, BlackRock will remain one of the largest investors in fossil-fuel companies." Are they using big scissors to mine coal now?

No. 10: "On Tuesday, she will play in her first basketball game since her surgery against Coventry." She must have knifed through Coventry's defense.

No. 11: " ... instead of cow towing to any wing of his party." "Udder" obsequiousness?

No. 12: "At last there was someone in state government who did not worship at the alter of the insatiable gas, water and electricity behemoth."

No. 13: "Pearson (is) the subject of a newly published biography, 'The Columnist: Leeks, Lies and Libel in Drew Pearson's Washington.'" A cookbook?

No. 14: "(She has) been living pillow to post and trying to maintain and still hold a job down." And probably not getting much sleep.

No. 15: The family room features a barreled ceiling and a fireplace, as well as two full walls of Palladium windows."
