Gun-bashing, California Cartoons, Men Working and Potty Surfing

Dear Mark: Bob Costas is an idiot. I was enjoying a nice evening watching my beloved Dallas Cowboys playing the hated Philadelphia Eagles, when that over-made-up, hair-coloring pipsqueak of a man gets on my flat screen and rants about gun control.

If I wanted to watch something political, I would have been tuned to one of the cable channels. What gives that sawed-off SPORTScaster the right to lecture me about my guns? — Cowboy Bob in Mexia

Dear Cowboy: Just as atheists love to use Christmas to chip away at American traditions, liberal talking heads love to use high-profile murders involving guns to bash the NRA and Second Amendment advocates.

Costas should have stuck to sports and refrained from shooting off his mouth about guns, as he obviously doesn't know the difference between a hog's leg and a pigskin. Millions upon millions of gun owners use their firearms responsibly every day and certainly don't turn them on the mothers of their 3-month-old babies.

We know that liberals only comprehend political arguments that fit on bumper stickers; well, here's another one for their Volts: "Guns Don't Kill People, Pro-abortion Liberals Kill People."

Dear Mark: Have you seen the ridiculous video put out by a California teachers union? In this cartoon, it shows a rich man urinating on what are supposed to be common, everyday people. The premise is that the rich are not paying their fair share when it comes to supporting our public schools.

I feel like the video is a teachers union propaganda hatchet job designed to indoctrinate our children and teach them that rich people are evil. This is class warfare at its worst, trying to stir up hatred for the upper-income earners despite the fact that the rich pay the majority of taxes in this state. When will this kind of union thuggery stop? — California Nightmaring

Dear California: As long as there is a willing, lazy and liberal media, this kind of misinformation will continue to spew unchallenged. I will answer your question with three of my own:

1. Isn't it a teacher's job and goal to put a student on the road to success?

2. Don't many of those students who achieve success also become wealthy?

3. Why would teachers then want to turn around and demonize and slander the very students they helped become successful?

Dear Mark: I am so tired of the political correctness phenomenon in our country. A community college in Ohio asked a construction crew to remove a "Men Working" sign because it was "sexist and non-inclusive." Can it get much worse? — Politically Incorrect and Proud

Dear Proud: Sadly, I'm not surprised at how extreme political correctness has become. I am confused, however. Were the bleeding-heart liberals at the school offended by the word "men" or the word "working"?

Dear Mark: A recent survey found that 16 percent of online shopping is done from the bathroom. I already think that society has become far too impersonal, and at least Christmas shopping brings people out face-to-face. Maybe I'm an old fogey, but don't you find shopping from the potty a tad bit disgusting? — June in Michigan

Dear June: As a manly man who loves to multitask, I actually think the idea is genius. What I do find disgusting, however, is that the fiscal cliff talks appear to be in the toilet, and the American people will get whatever comes out. Yuck!
