Rena Sofer (Quinn from "The Bold and the Beautiful") is not only talented; she is also passionate. Sofer took to Instagram to share her grief and her fury in the wake of the recent mass shooting at the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh:
"Today I am angry! As I write this, I cannot see past my tears of hurt, sadness, anger, frustration and fear!!! First and foremost, my heart and soul are with the entire Jewish community of #squirrelhill and with the #treeoflifesynagogue . This is not just any community to me or any 'Jewish' community. THIS IS MY COMMUNITY!!!!
"I remember having Swastikas spray painted on our temple as we grew up there and feeling so unsafe. ...
"It's time to stand on the RIGHT SIDE OF HISTORY before it's too late!! Make it clear!! This is not ok!!YOU ARE NOT OK WITH THIS!! VOTE LIKE ALL OF OUR LIVES DEPEND ON IT!! BECAUSE THEY DO!!!"
As a Jew, I am also going through all the stages of grief — disbelief, anger, sadness. I am a first-generation American. If my father and my mom's parents had not come to America, I would be a bar of soap or a lampshade. That is what was made of the Jews (and others) slaughtered in the concentration camps. Until this weekend, I knew I would always be safe in America. Did I experience slurs, job discrimination and unfounded hate? Yes. I also knew America would keep me safe. I did not need Israel; I had America. I have had one of my core beliefs stripped. I do not understand the hatred. There are over 370 million American Jews. Why are we so hated?
