Hooray for love. On "Days of Our Lives" on June 21, Lucas (Bryan Dattilo) asked Adrienne (Judi Evans) to marry him. She said yes. Do not expect smooth sailing. First off, Sonny (Freddie Smith) the adult son of Adrienne and Justin (Wally Kurth), continues to fight for his parents to get back together. Lucas's mom Kate (Lauren Kaslow) is not happy to be mother-in-law. Remember, Kate has never liked the women in her son's life. She hated Sami. On the plus side, the Horton clan will be thrilled. As will her brother Steve (Stephen Nichols) and her sister-in-law Kayla. Hopefully the new writing staff will make good use of Adrienne and Lucas. The popular couple is tied to so many characters it makes sense. I am tired of seeing Lucas when he babysits his granddaughter.
It's sad to hear that Michal E. Knight (Neville) has been let go from "The Young and the Restless." The decision was made before Jill Farren Phelps was axed as the show's executive producer. Maybe the new executive producer will change that. Or perhaps "Days of Our Lives" will cast him in the role of a doctor with a past. The casting call wants an actor with experience and good looks who is in the 45-55 age range. Look no further: Knight is all this and more. He still has lots of "All My Children" fans who loved him as Tad.
Finola Hughes (Anna, "General Hospital") will be off the canvas for a while Hughes is headed for an extended vacation. No word on how long or why Anna will be gone.
Last month, Kirsten Storms (Maxie) had to take a medical leave. Storms explained that she had a skin condition due to stress, and even the soap's magical makeup team could not cover up the issue. Now that the problem has been solved, Storms has been seen on set. A few years back, Storms had to take a medical leave of absence and Jen Lilley (soon-to-be-ex Theresa on "Days") filled in. This time around, Molly Burnett (ex-Melanie on "Days") stepped in.
Alexander Bruszt (Flynn) is ending his stay on "Days." When the actor was first brought in, it was to be a 13-week run. It turned in to 26. The Aussie actor won a contest and beat out 300-plus actors for the role.
James Patrick Stuart (ex-Will, "All My Children") is checking into General Hospital. The actor is already taping his scenes and will show up on screen in late July. No word about his character. Please do not make him a mobster. Between Sonny, Julian and Paul, there are enough "forget about it" characters.
Good news for Jonathon Jackson (ex-Lucky on "General Hospital" and Avery on "Nashville"). After four seasons, ABC canceled "Nashville." But CMT has picked it up. Get ready for "my life is garbage" country-western songs.
