LYNDA HIRSCH ON TELEVISION -- GOSSIP

This week has become a royal pain in my ass. Harry and Meghan — like Cher, only one name is needed to know who you are talking about — had more than 35 million people watch their interview with Oprah (another single-name person). Add that to the endless talk show mentions and there is no escaping the photogenic couple. Years ago, Rosie Marie (Sally, of "Dick Van Dyke" fame) told me: "Everyone one loves you. Everywhere you go this famous person pops up. A year later they are hated for it." She said this decades before social media. Now, these celebrities pop up on Twitter, Facebook, even your email. What is my opinion of the darling duo? I am not saying. Piers Morgan did and he lost his talk show that he's been on forever because he dissed the couple. There is one thing I will comment on. Racism was called out in the royal family, but they did not say who. That taints everyone. I never do blind items. They turn into guessing games. Everyone thinks they know who it is about, and, usually, they are wrong. I had no idea what will take over the real-life gossip world. In the soap world, I got it.

The death of "General Hospital's" Franco (Roger Howarth) is trending everywhere. There had been some rumors. It seemed impossible that this central character who went from horrible to wonderful was shot to death. Prior to playing Franco, Howarth was Todd on "One Life to Live." Howarth had issues with the character — not because he shared many scenes with a parrot on his shoulder. It was like scenes from "Othello." The cockatoo squawked about everything. He even helped him pick out his clothes. Howarth, a sublime actor, had no issues with that.

Instead, he was not happy with the plot. Todd was a rapist gone good. Howarth, a devoted father and husband, had issues with the redemption of Todd. He pulled it off. Howarth, who does not do a lot of social media, how about none, posted a farewell note to his fans. He let them know that Franco is dead, dead. However, after a hiatus, he will return to "General Hospital." No word on who he will be, but it would be delicious of he played Drew back from the dead. He did ask friends for a favor. He wants them to go onto Cameo. The money will all go to charity. He says he will do almost anything on the video site. There is one thing that he will not do — diss anyone. Tristan Roger (Scorpio, "General Hospital") went on the site and said Wes Ramsey (Peter) was a good actor but miscast. Ramsey politely replied that as an actor it is up to him to make it work, and he thinks he does.

Over on "Days of Our Lives," Linsey Godfrey (Sarah) revealed her real-life struggle. She shared she was bipolar and had some borderline personality issues. Every time an actor like Godfrey opens up about their struggles, it helps others know they are not alone. Even with these daunting issues, a good life can be lived.
