On "The Young and Restless," Jessica Collins' character, Avery Bailey, was a lawyer who defended the innocent and baked cupcakes in her spare time. In real life, the recent Daytime Emmy nominee also bakes cupcakes — and has a bun in the oven. The 44-year-old actress posted to Facebook, "Over the moon to finally share my greatest role with you: Mommy." Her new daughter's name is Jemma Kate Collins Cooney. Jemma's dad is Collins' longtime partner, celebrated English-born screenwriter Michael Cooney. His father, Ray Cooney, is a celebrated and award-winning playwright.

I love Lucy — "General Hospital" character Lucy Coe, that is, and so does the actress who has played her on and off since 1986. When Lynn Herring first took on the role her beauty was hidden by glasses and a mousy hairdo. A year later Lucy stopped looking like Ethel and became a bombshell. From 1997 to 2003 Lucy and Herring were the focal point of the "General Hospital" spinoff, "Port Charles." After that Lucy disappeared. In 2012 she returned to "General Hospital."

Once again she is missing in soap opera action. Herring recently took to Facebook to explain where she's been to inquiring fans.

"Thank you all for thinking of me ... and Lucy, of course, it means so much!" writes Herring. "I am loving ranching and Museum-ing (is that a word?) right now. I do miss playing Lucy but I am not interested in a line here or there or a day once in awhile. All the years of happiness and satisfaction I had playing Lucy are too important to me, and I would never want to belittle all the great memories I have of her adventures. If Frank (Valentini, executive producer) and the writers need Lucy for a story or a firm connection in the show, then I will jump out of my saddle and come running for sure.

"Not sure if 'General Hospital' is doing the Nurses Ball again this year and if they are, if Lucy is even included," wrote Herring. "You will be the first to know when I find out! Thank you for all your interest, support and fun comments! Got to head back outside. The river washed out many of our fences and the cows are taking advantage. :) XO." Herring is married to Wayne Northrop, formerly Roman on "Days of Our Lives." They have two sons.

"General Hospital" fans will finally get to see Kristina's professor. Fearing she was going to flunk out of school, Kristina offered to sleep with professor Parker, who turned her down. Professor Parker is being played by Ashley Jones (ex-Bridget, "The Bold and the Beautiful"). The actress has shot two episodes and may be back for more.

Sadly, Feb. 2 is the last day for Kassie Depaiva's "Days of Our Lives" character, Eve. The songbird should have been given a story line by the new writers, but they took a pass. But the always-sunny Depaiva has something to smile about: This week she was pre-nominated for a daytime Emmy.

Robert Scott Wilson (Ben on "Days") was carted out of Salem when he was revealed to be the Necktie Killer. The character is returning to the show. No word on how, when, why or for how long, but we can already hear Abby yelling, "He's back!"
