Just like every great soap opera, the behind the scenes drama at "Young and Restless" is endless.
A little background: On Dec. 17, Michael Muhney (Adam) was axed. Muhney twittered his departure. The next day, a soap opera blog interviewed Muhney, who apologized for his hubris, but made it seem as if his axing was caused by a fellow cast mate. By that time, most folks who reported on daytime had a different take. No one was willing to reveal that Muhney had been accused of groping a younger actress on the set. When TMZ finally broke the story, everyone began reporting that Muhney had made inappropriate moves on Hunter King (Summer). Then things really got nasty. Many a "Y&R" viewer threw despicable insults at the actress. Fans scrapped together $750 to fly a banner over the studio trumpeting that they were "team Muhney." Many of King's cast mates tweeted their support and anger about comments made about the starlet. Just when you thought the story was over, Eric Braeden (Victor) talked to Radar online. In over 20 years of talking to him, I can tell you that Braeden does not take a garbage on or off the set. In the Radar report, he said Muhney wanted to get rid of him. He likened Muhney to the cub who wants to take over, and Braeden, the lion. The daytime Emmy winner also said he thinks Muhney is a wonderful actor. Braeden pleaded guilty to being fast and loose with his lines. He suggests that he feels it is important that he do that, as he knows Victor better than anyone. To be fair, many top-notch daytime actors, Justin Deas (Buzz "Guiding Light"), Tony Geary (Luke "General Hospital") and many others like to toss things at their scene mates. The best part of Braeden's interview is his denial that he urged King to tell the producers about Muhney's behavior. Braeden's explanation as to why he was not involved: "I do not even learn anyone's name unless they have been here ten years." The sound you hear is the CBS, Sony and "Y&R" brass telling everybody to "shut up."
Charles Keating (Carl "Another World") and his wife Mary played matchmaker for his one-time cast mate Anna Stuart (Donna) two years ago. The couple hosted a New Year's Eve party and invited Stuart- and Oscar-nominated actor James Cromwell ("Babe"). A protracted New Year's Eve conversation turned into a romance. This New Year's, the couple said "I do" at a party hosted by the Keatings.
J.R. Martinez (Brot "All My Children") has split with his long-time girlfriend and the mother of his child, Diana Gonzalez-Jones. The duo met when she worked as a producer on "AMC." In a statement, the "Dancing With the Stars" champ said, "Diana Gonzalez-Jones and I have ended our relationship. However, we are committed to working together to raise our daughter in a healthy and happy environment."
What a difference a few years make. Kirsten Storms (Maxie "General Hospital") had such major problems with endometriosis, she was not sure she would even be able to give birth to a child. She was not seeing anyone, while cast mate Brandon Barash (ex-Johnny) was seeing someone else. Flash to the present: The duo started dating, married and welcomed daughter Harper Rose last week. Mom calls the bundle of joy "daddy's little princess."
