Passion Moon and Pluto

The ancients regarded volcanoes as gods' anger. Nowadays we know it's just nature's way of letting off pressure. This knowledge doesn't make the blow any less destructive, although we can often be forewarned. As the passionate Cancer moon opposes Pluto, when you come across emotional volcanoes, flee the danger zone.

ARIES (March 21-April 19). Unsure which way to go, the temptation will be to fit into a group and march on. Don't be so quick to fall in line today. There's more for you! Dare to slow down (and stick out) for a minute to observe less obvious options.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20). When someone near seems a little blue, you hope to overturn the trend with your compassion and maybe a little levity. Hopefully you'll do this without setting up an expectation of becoming this person's 24/7 emotional babysitter.

GEMINI (May 21-June 21). You believe that what's worth having is worth working for. But what about when the ones who are doing the work are not the same ones doing the having? Try to set the unfair situation right.

CANCER (June 22-July 22). Maybe there are times when it's appropriate to make a sacrifice, but not now. Rest assured there will be absolutely no benefit to sacrificing your plans for the sake of entwining your life with someone else's today.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22). It's like your mind's eye is wearing a bifocal. You'll slant your head one way to view the big picture and another to catch the small (perhaps bothersome) details. All in all you'll get an accurate view of the emotional landscape.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22). For you it's rather easy to see the difference between bravado and bravery, between the poseurs and the performers. More naive souls around you will be blind to the signals. Your role: wise protector.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 23). In order to stay inside your own power zone today you'll need to be aware of the subtle forms of control that people may try to assert. Good news: If they don't work on you, they won't be reasserted anytime soon.

SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 21). Lately you're conscious of trying to be extremely laid-back about relationships. You don't put others in a position of having to choose between you and the other important things in life, and this will be much appreciated now.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21). Filmmakers aren't the only ones who benefit from knowing when to go close and when to back up for the wide angle. When you're setting something up, it's important to focus close.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19). In the name of wholeness, you'll be pulling together polarities within you — strengths and weaknesses, attractions and repulsions, the private and the public parts of your personality. There's power in accepting it all.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18). You realize that any business you get into is going to have a certain outlay that you'll have to recoup before you make a profit. Go for the sweat-based instead of the cash-based investment. You'll learn more.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20). Your tolerance for boredom is low now and getting lower by the hour. This will work in your favor, as you'll go out of your way to create fun and excitement. Just keep it positively focused!

TODAY'S BIRTHDAY (Sept. 14). There's a rebelliousness that accompanies this solar return, and you'll overturn the status quo to get more control over your destiny. A flight of fancy will turn into something lucrative at year's end. You'll form a tight team for a victory that serves all in January. Something you lost will return to you in 2018. Leo and Gemini adore you. Your lucky numbers are: 9, 18, 45, 22 and 37.

ASTROLOGICAL QUESTION: "I don't like to meditate. I've tried a few methods, and I've either become more irritated than I was to begin with or I've fallen asleep. Also I can't stand yoga. Is there anything else I can do to get the benefits of these popular techniques?"

The popularity of yoga and Zen meditation is at an all-time high, but these are only two of hundreds, if not thousands, of possible meditative practices. Broaden your definition to include any of the activities that allow you to slip into a peacefully concentrated state: coloring a mandala, knitting, fishing, reading, praying, studying, walking, playing an instrument, doing a math problem, playing a game, drawing, dancing, doing a crossword puzzle, watching waves and clouds, etc. Meditation is really more a quality of mind than it is one specific activity. So if the Downward-Facing Dogs and oms don't take you there, by all means, find what does. And don't let anyone tell you that their method is superior to yours just because theirs involves a lotus pose and yours involves crayons. Such comparisons are not Zen, nor are they cool.

CELEBRITY PROFILES: When it comes to Prince Henry of Wales, the internet is updated several time a day (if not an hour) on matters such as his love life; the royal family; his militaristic, conservational and charitable activities; and much more. Prince Harry possesses the excellent work ethic Virgos are known for, the organized focus of Mercury in Virgo and all the charm inherent with Libra in Venus.
