The Cosmic Conundrum of Retrogrades

It's not ideal. The Mercury retrograde adds stress to a journey the way children and pets do. Sure, it's wonderful to have their energy on board, but you never quite know what they're going to do next, and it's a big responsibility to keep them safe and in line. Doing a good job demands selflessness. So, actually, maybe this is ideal after all.

ARIES (March 21-April 19). It's interesting how much people reveal about themselves to you. New people get comfortable quickly and will tell you more than you bargained for, which will be a perplexing sort of honor.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20). There are things you want to do and are better off for doing every single day. Missing a day is no big deal in the big scheme, but unless you figure out why you missed and solve it, it could turn into a trend.

GEMINI (May 21-June 21). You're a person of many minds, most of them determined, some of them wise, and a few of them childish in their wants. As you let go of the way you want it to be, the way it is becomes really beautiful.

CANCER (June 22-July 22). It would be exhausting and inappropriate to delve into every flicker of emotion that crosses your being. While avoiding feelings will be necessary to carry off some of today's tasks, do go back and acknowledge them at some point.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22). You've learned how to disarm your own fear before, overcoming much bigger obstacles than the ones you face now. It's time to apply the lesson to another area of life. It will work the same way, and you will, once again, prevail.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22). Share with people who are not jealous and self-centered. Share with generous people who will let you be the star of the hour when it's your turn. You don't know enough of these types.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 23). Everything you've got going in your life right now meets some kind of need, otherwise you wouldn't be doing it. As happy as you may be, it's still a positive and creative exercise to consider other possible ways handling those needs.

SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 21). The power of repetition is real. Your brain depends on it to build mental storage facilities for all the facts, skills and life-enhancing practices you'll be picking up in the weeks to come. Repeat lessons often so they'll stick.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21). You enjoy being social when you're ready for it and in the mood to connect. But you need your solitude just as much. Nothing recharges you like the total silence that allows you to hear your own thoughts.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19). There's much good that comes out of being with a person who annoys you. You won't notice what it is until later, but maybe it will make your relationship better to know that you're being favorably shaped by this.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18). Dread is a function of taking on too much, or believing that you have. So, cut back on the size of the step. You'll either realize that you're able to do more now, or you'll get there more comfortably in time.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20). The change you are making could be threatening to loved ones who like things the way they are. They may be afraid that your self-improvement will alter your love for them. Reassurances will be appreciated.

TODAY'S BIRTHDAY (July 13). You may not be totally sure what you want, but you know where you belong. Putting yourself where the love and inspiration flow strongly will fortify your spirit and sensitize you to the important things. October's financial boost helps the mission. A self-fulfilling prophesy unfolds over 2020, so prophesize the best for yourself. Scorpio and Capricorn adore you. Your lucky numbers are: 5, 28, 14, 3 and 17.

DEVELOP YOUR INTUITION, CANCER: Moonchildren are famously intuitive and among the most psychically gifted. A most remarkable feature of their gift is that most are completely unaware of it, as it is simply who they are. They act on intuitive knowledge without ceremony or comment. It's nothing to write home about because they don't think of their instinctual knowledge as being anything special, powerful or out of the ordinary. And yet this cosmic endowment offers protection and relatively smooth travels on life's journey.

For Cancer, it's not a matter of developing intuition, but staying out of its way. The best way to mess up the gift is self-doubt. The best way to get to self-doubt is by being near people who do not bring out the best in Cancer. The sensitive moonchildren need to figure out how to keep terrible influences and toxic people at a distance. When these types get too close it can only erode the natural knowingness that is Cancer's birthright.

So the psychic tools that are helpful to have aren't psychic in natural at all, rather they are social tools for dealing with or getting away from people who do not have the capability to support, uplift or inspire the Cancer.

CELEBRITY PROFILES: This fall, the Cameron Crowe movie "Almost Famous" will have its premiere as a musical at the Old Globe in San Diego. Crowe is a sensitive Cancer who brings the worlds of his mind alive for others to enjoy. From "Say Anything" to "We Bought a Zoo," it's easy to sense the romance that lives inside this visionary artist's heart. Crowe has five planets in Leo, the sign of entertainment.
