If a person is being purposefully selfish or malicious, it's mean and probably also punishable. But a person accidentally displaying these qualities may be immature, inexperienced, threatened, ill-equipped or momentarily weak. So, we get a little greedy under the Taurus moon. It can be addressed with education instead of punishment.
ARIES (March 21-April 19). Just because someone sounds smart doesn't make that person correct. Highly intelligent people can be extremely articulate about foolish things, and your gut will tell you when this is the case.
TAURUS (April 20-May 20). Once you start making distinctions and delineations, it's hard to know where to stop. This is the nature of boundary setting. It's almost as if you need a boundary on setting boundaries.
GEMINI (May 21-June 21). How about if, before you finish a big project, you get started on the next one? This keeps you moving ever forward without the awkward lulls and dips that can happen when things end.
CANCER (June 22-July 22). If you could go back in time and warn your younger self, what warning would you issue? What diversion would you suggest? These are the same ideas that will work well for today's circumstance.
LEO (July 23-Aug. 22). If no one listens to advice yet people come to you for advice, what then? Recognize they don't want what they say they want. Give attention — soft, receptive and undivided. It's better than advice anyway.
VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22). While searching for solutions, don't start with the appropriate ones. Not today. Also, the really good ideas and solutions will come from mentally backing up to before the problem even started.
LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 23). Just because your latest attempt didn't work out doesn't mean you should give up the chase. Try again. Address the negatives you found the last time around. You'll be luckier now.
SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 21). You've experienced the pettiness of others before, and you know how people's focus on insignificant things can negatively affect the mood. You'll go the other direction and spend your time on the things that matter in the long run.
SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21). Interpersonal dynamics will work in the opposite sequence than seems logical. For instance, you'll trust a person and then find the person to be trustworthy, and you'll befriend a person before the person seems friendly.
CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19). You motivate others so well because either someone did this for you or no one did and you learned to do this for yourself through worldly examples. Use your gift. People around you will need it today.
AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18). Fixing the small thing might just teach you that bigger things are janky. The framework itself may be flawed. It could be the institution that's broken. Even so, don't get discouraged. Tend to what you can.
PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20). It is one thing to be spiritual while walking the halls of a monastery engulfed in the majesty of holy music and 14th-century paintings. It's quite another to be spiritually aligned in a 21st-century traffic jam. You'll do your best!
TODAY'S BIRTHDAY (March 10). The universe makes a game out of getting you to smile in big, small and unexpected ways. In April, you'll get so caught up in service and duty that ego needs to change and fade. Summer brings exploration and renewal. Be bold in addressing what you want, and later you'll be able to help others get what they want, too. Aries and Capricorn adore you. Your lucky numbers are: 8, 45, 1, 11 and 16.
FORECAST FOR THE WEEK AHEAD: The glorification of busyness is currently off-trend, the current buzzwords favoring more relaxed concepts such as "work-life balance" and "mindfulness." We still get busy; we just don't brag about it quite so much or equate a full schedule with superior status. Whether we're worse or better for this cultural shift is a matter of personal opinion. Still, it's easy to see that the very idea that one always must be moving and doing to be of value is rooted in insecurity, the acceptance of which is, in itself, a transcendence. To ward off ill effects of Mercury retrograde, try this manta on for size: "So I'm insecure. So life is precarious, the world as dangerous as it is wondrous. I'm still safe enough to pause, to rest, to contemplate."
Also note that during a retrograde such as this, it's common for people to behave as though they know what they're doing when they haven't a clue. "Fake it till you make it" isn't just a tactic; it's an inherent human tendency. The reason it's important this week is that you'll be more successful when you explain, break things down, repeat them, etc. Don't stop until they show you proof that they get it.
CELEBRITY PROFILES: Carrie Underwood goes into this solar return with a newborn baby, a new album and a fresh induction to the Oklahoma Hall of Fame, too — many excellent reasons to "Cry Pretty" like the title of her latest work. Underwood was born when the sun and Mercury were both in Pisces as they are now, lending her an ease of expression and a pure channel of spiritual communication ideal for songwriting.
