March's Opening Sequence

The week plays like cinema. The first days of March bring the establishing shots — a high view of life as usual, followed by scenes on the ground of the relatable normalcy of life. Then Wednesday night bring the rumbles of excitement and a disruption by Mars. Mercury and Jupiter pile on the conflict, which begins the hero's journey of evolution, transcendence and revolution. Casting hint: you as the hero.

ARIES (March 21-April 19). The word "no" is a complete sentence. Even so, it's one that won't go over well this week. It's not your fault, but your very essence sets up expectation and hope in others. Let them down easy with the sort of sentence that makes them feel good about what they're doing, even though you won't be involved.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20). The aspect of human nature that gets a workout this week will be your sense of personal responsibility. You'll gain intimate knowledge of its edges, as fuzzy as they can be. The blurred lines between "my job" and "your job" are especially soft right now. Be careful what you establish, as it quickly becomes the norm.

GEMINI (May 21-June 21). What you want you must give at once. Show the universe what you're talking about. Love and appreciation are especially accessible through this method. Furthermore, you'll learn something life-changing after you teach something life-changing. You'll overcome an obstacle after helping someone over their obstacle.

CANCER (June 22-July 22). The mind, left unattended, will churn out rationalizations to support the laziest of notions. But you know this already and come prepared. Once you set a goal, you expect things to get hard. You commit to being undeterred by things like fear, inconvenience or the learning curve. Nothing can stop you!

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22). Your ideal lifestyle is attainable. It will involve letting go. There are things you tried and enjoyed that have no place in this new season of life. You're coming into a cycle of trimming, decluttering and simplifying. With efficiency on your side, you make room for what you've been craving — substantial beauty.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22). Taking responsibility is the magic move that makes you powerful. In response to this week's excitement, you'll reaffirm your role as the sole determiner of your success. You'll win, not because things always go the way you want, but because when they don't, you always try again.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 23). Many make efforts to give you their best, but you don't require it. You believe it's not their job to show you that they are interesting, good or beautiful. Rather, you believe it's your job to find, highlight or inspire the goodness and beauty in others. This week, the quest becomes interesting.

SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 21). While food is necessary and television is fun, overindulgences of either will rob you of this week's treasures, which are more likely found in the hungry pursuit of an actual adventure, not the satisfied relaxation of watching adventures glow through a screen. Life comes at you vividly because you go find it.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21). People think what they want, and you'll have little to do with it. That is, unless you launch a long-form exercise in influence. It's a talent of yours, though such things are only worth the time when they are deliberate and for a higher purpose that will serve many. Some such opportunities will arise this week.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19). You want to give of yourself, but the actualities and realities of that gift are a little foggy. Start by figuring out what you know and asking what you don't. Overthinking is the death of creativity. You'll learn in the doing. By week's end, you'll be clear about what you want to express and the why and how of it, too.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18). You'll have a wonderful time with someone who not only lets you be you but also brings out new sides. While you'd like to be around this person more, the relationship is also a reminder about how important it is to meet new people and be open to influence by interpersonal dynamics. Friendship is an adventure.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20). An ego can be a delicate thing. Yours isn't now, but you remember when you were in a different place, raw and growing into yourself. Every little thing felt like an affront to your security and sense of self. It's why you can be so compassionate and will lead others to a safe place of trust and personal growth.

THIS WEEK'S BIRTHDAYS: Since the year will rise up to meet your level of enthusiasm for it, the best move is to initiate with wonder, and approach with excitement that will feel, at first, a bit outsized for the circumstances. Open a fresh interest, launch a quest, and enjoy the new friends that come with the package. The spring brings inner peace — the product of healthy choices. The value of exercise cannot be emphasized enough as happiness goes with soul satisfaction and balanced physical chemistry.
