He enters Lenny's Pizza in Brooklyn and orders a slice. After devouring the snack, he emerges onto 86th Street and struts down several blocks as the song "Staying Alive" plays in his head. Bob is reliving the opening scene of the 1977 motion picture "Saturday Night Fever." And he's not alone. As he mimics one of his favorite movie sequences, others around the country are fantasizing theirs.

From Maine to Hawaii, places where parts or all of movies were filmed attract visitors seeking to hold on to memories of beloved motion pictures. At places ranging from a delicatessen in New York to a beach in Hawaii, from a state reformatory in Ohio to an island off the coast of South Carolina, people recapture treasured scenes.
Updated: Sun Sep 15, 2019
5bbf346cc597dd7d439bac431a23a9a2 They Do It Right in Branson, Missouri for 09/14/2019 Sat, 14 Sep 2019 00:00:00 -0700
By Fyllis Hockman

OK, I know not everyone believes in the Loch Ness Monster, the Easter Bunny or even Santa Claus, but everyone believes in Bigfoot, right? Right? I know this because I've actually been to his very own park in Branson, Missouri, dedicated to all things related to the big hairy guy. It's hard to argue with that much information.

As we embarked on our Exploratory Expedition at Bigfoot Fun Park we were forewarned that we would be seeing a large hairy beast during our very off-road tour of the rural Ozarks. The voice of an English-sounding narrator who's been searching for Bigfoot for decades was piped in warning us not to exit even if threatened, not to shoot firearms and — the most damning of all — not to go on social media.
Updated: Sat Sep 14, 2019
337bac357517bc3608e10ec1b481d94d Explore Southeast Asia on a Mekong River Cruise for 09/08/2019 Sun, 08 Sep 2019 00:00:00 -0700

By Steve Bergsman

When considering a cruise down the Mekong River in Southeast Asia, one is tempted to think back to the patrol boat in the movie "Apocalypse Now." But let me offer a far different cinematic reference, the 1939 Hedy Lamarr and Robert Taylor romance, "Lady of the Tropics," which begins with a cruise ship landing in Saigon before Taylor's character, Bill Carey, joins the mixed-race beauty Manon, played by Lamarr, on board a riverboat steaming up the Mekong River to Angkor Wat, where Manon is pledged to be married to a local prince.
Updated: Sun Sep 08, 2019
95646f28cae21247d63af8a41313b65b 'The Lover's House' Lures Dumas Fans to Sa Dec, Vietnam for 09/07/2019 Sat, 07 Sep 2019 00:00:00 -0700

By Steve Bergsman

"He says he's just back from Paris where he was a student, that he lives in Sa Dec too, on this same river, the big house with the big terraces with the blue-tiled balustrades." — Marguerite Duras
Updated: Sat Sep 07, 2019
22aadbbb9a130df4f3ec5fbc19d41d93 Chocolate and Honey Heaven in Grenada for 09/01/2019 Sun, 01 Sep 2019 00:00:00 -0700

By Nicola Bridges

The Spice Isle of Grenada in the Caribbean West Indies is known for its tropical lushness, azure seas lapping white, palm-tree-sprinkled beaches and jagged coves — and just that, the fragrant array of spices this island paradise has been providing the world dating back to the 1600s. Its natural-grown nutmeg, cinnamon, turmeric, curry, cardamom, coriander, pepper, saffron and more were, literally, worth more than their weight in gold and caused wars between continents fighting to ship these island delights back to Europe.
Updated: Sun Sep 01, 2019
af909be6dc0993279b12064fe5dbf295 River Cruising Offers Carefree European Travel for 08/31/2019 Sat, 31 Aug 2019 00:00:00 -0700

By Sondra L.
