The emotion was palpable, both from the policemen and from the members of Congress that shared their fear during the riot. Empathy was almost demanded by this frightening recounting.

This didn't feel political. This was just a horrible human experience. But that's not how the media is going to mediate it. This is a political story. You can pretend it's not political, but even that pretense is political.

The Republicans and House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy wanted to focus on other policemen who feared dying in riots and were injured in 2020 — in Portland, Oregon; in New York City; in Minneapolis; and even Secret Service agents outside the White House, who did not get their moment of live coverage on national TV. The Republicans wanted to round out the riot picture — and the Democrats refused. That was "whataboutism" — a term liberals use to defend their tunnel vision as the only vision.
Updated: Wed Jul 28, 2021
476f136ee188e18db2772703f9e59a79 CNN'S Lemon of a Town Hall Meeting for 07/23/2021 https://www.creators.com/read/tim-graham/07/21/cnns-lemon-of-a-town-hall-meeting Fri, 23 Jul 2021 00:00:00 -0700

CNN became apoplectic whenever former President Donald Trump called them "fake news," but on July 21, they offered President Joe Biden a nationally televised boost that can accurately be described as a "fake town hall."

A real town hall would sell tickets in a city like Cincinnati and let the locals mix it up with the president and ask him whatever was on their minds. That's not what CNN did. It was an "invitation only" audience, which means nobody boos or laughs at inappropriate times. CNN was talking over the video, but when Biden waved goodbye at the limited crowd, they gave him a standing ovation.
Updated: Fri Jul 23, 2021
ce4b9cc09ad0607abb4312ff6e391e70 Biden's Wild Murder and Jim Crow Accusations for 07/21/2021 https://www.creators.com/read/tim-graham/07/21/bidens-wild-murder-and-jim-crow-accusations Wed, 21 Jul 2021 00:00:00 -0700
Liberals boasted that the election of Joe Biden meant a return to sober, restrained presidential rhetoric and an end to unhinged mean tweets. Biden wouldn't be a divider; he'd be a uniter to get things done. That's nothing like current reality. But when Biden uncorks crazy hot talk, the media are supportive repeaters.

On July 16, NBC reporter Peter Alexander tossed a softball: "On COVID misinformation, what's your message to platforms like Facebook?" Biden gave a wild-eyed answer: "They're killing people." He said it twice. NBC, as well as CBS and PBS, just passed it along — with some Facebook denial that they were murderers — and no fact-checking or Republican rebuttal emerged. ABC's "World News Tonight" skipped it, like it was embarrassing.

After the weekend, Biden bizarrely walked it back. "My hope is that Facebook, instead of taking it personally that somehow I'm saying 'Facebook is killing people,' that they would do something about the misinformation," Biden said. That's literally what he said — and journalists didn't seem to find it was even impolite to Facebook.
Updated: Wed Jul 21, 2021
ad7d7a562b31892081a6274273539069 Mark Levin's Call to Rebut 'American Marxism' for 07/16/2021 https://www.creators.com/read/tim-graham/07/21/mark-levins-call-to-rebut-american-marxism Fri, 16 Jul 2021 00:00:00 -0700
We're six months into the Biden administration, and the liberal media is still obsessing over new books full of titillating tales from anonymous sources about President Donald Trump. Meanwhile, Mark Levin's newest bestseller — provocatively titled "American Marxism" — is too counterrevolutionary for these journalists to take seriously.

CNN's Brian Stelter touted two new anti-Trump books that were No. 3 and No. 4 on Amazon. But "in a display of our fractured state of the union, two Fox hosts" were beating them. "Mark Levin is at #1 and Jesse Watters is at #2. Biden staffers claimed Republicans "defunded the police." That's a bald-faced lie.

On the June 27 "Fox News Sunday," White House aide Cedric Richmond claimed that because Republicans uniformly voted against President Joe Biden's massive American Rescue Plan for coronavirus relief, they somehow defunded the police. "Republicans are very good at staying on talking points of who says defund the police. But the truth is, they defunded the police. We funded crime intervention and a whole bunch of other things."

CBS and CNN also interviewed Richmond on their Sunday morning shows on June 27, but he didn't repeat the lie about police defunding, and they ran clips of their own interviews instead.
Updated: Wed Jul 14, 2021
e5af0353e870695980064fb6d00d2141 The Critical Conservative Race 'Panic' for 07/09/2021 https://www.creators.com/read/tim-graham/07/21/the-critical-conservative-race-panic Fri, 09 Jul 2021 00:00:00 -0700

"Critical race theory" has become the latest "Republicans pounce" story. Nobody reads Vogue for hard facts about politics. The fashion magazine, run by longtime Democrat Anna Wintour, is a willing participant in glossy propaganda.

ABC reporter Janai Norman happily repeated that Jill Biden told Vogue: "I want the White House to feel comfortable. Assuming that conservative critics are dishonest and disreputable cynics is a common trope of CNN's Brian Stelter when liberal journalists become mired in scandal.

In a June 15 "Academic Minute" podcast, Marist College professor Kevin Lerner explicitly defined the entire conservative movement as bad-faith media critics.

"These bad-faith attacks on the press began to rise most recently in the 1960s and '70s, led by a concerted effort among conservative journalists and critics," Lerner argued.
