Dr. Jessica Johnson has a master's in journalism and a Ph.D. in education. She is an opinion columnist for The Athens Banner-Herald (Georgia) and a special correspondent for The Columbus Dispatch. She is also the author of the new book Salt of the Earth Georgia Boy.
An educator at heart, Johnson has lectured in the comparative studies and African American and African Studies departments at Ohio State and has taught English composition at Central State University (Wilberforce, Ohio) and Columbus State Community College.
She was recently selected recipient of the 2013 Excellence Award in Research from Central State’s College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences in recognition of Salt of the Earth.
