Dr. Ben Carson is a retired neurosurgeon who, most recently, joined the 2016 race for the U.S. presidency, hoping to gain the Republican nomination. He is known for his conservative views and his notable rise to success. Born in Detroit, Michigan, Ben Carson rose from humble beginnings to eventually become the youngest and first African-American Director of Pediatric Surgery at Johns Hopkins University. As a writer, Carson speaks honestly and often draws from his childhood experiences to discuss and explain his opinions on various social, political and economic views.
