You want to look your best, but it's not always easy or convenient. You need some beauty hacks to help you streamline your look. From hair and teeth to skin and nails, check out these quick beauty tips that'll keep you primped without lots of time or money.
--Baking soda. This kitchen staple is a handy beauty tool. Sprinkle it on your toothbrush as a natural tooth whitener, or mix it with water, honey or coconut oil to wash your face. CanDace Johnson, a beauty, wellness and sexuality coach, calls baking soda "the best skin cleanser, moisturizer and brightener," noting it also works as a dry shampoo.
--Lasting lipstick. For the perfect pout, celebrity makeup artist Heather Adessa, owner of Glo Beauty Bar, suggests applying a light translucent powder to your lips before applying lipstick. "If using a matte shade, place a tissue over lips and apply powder again for an extra matte look," she says.
--Homemade lip color. Looking for the perfect lip color? Make your own. "Mix petroleum jelly and loose pigment, or warm up different shades of lipsticks to create new shades," says Teresa Song of Beauty by Teresa.
--Hydrated skin. Make this face mask at home: Mash together half of a ripe avocado and two tablespoons of honey. Keep the mask on for 15 minutes, and then remove it with a warm washcloth. "It will leave your skin feeling hydrated," says Dr. Debra Jaliman, a board-certified dermatologist and author of the book "Skin Rules." If you don't have avocado handy, substitute one egg yolk.
--Multipurpose bronzer. One product can do a lot. Barbara Ritzman of Barbie's Beauty Bits says bronzer can be used as "an eye shadow, to contour, applied to your cheeks, as well as to lengthen eyelashes."
--Pimple problems. Annoyed by acne? Dab a bit of toothpaste on the pimple. "The best time to put it on is at night so it sits and works while you're sleeping," says Adessa.
Fashionista Ariana Pierce suggests putting a dab of honey and fresh lemon juice on the pimple because it "greatly reduces the swelling and kills the bacteria, causing the pimple to go down and even disappear in minutes in some cases."
--Yogurt. Use this dairy product as a moisturizer. "Try adding it to your hair before you wash it as a mask, or you can mix it with honey and a very ripe banana for a deep conditioner," says Johnson. "Slather it on your face to moisturize it, add turmeric and cinnamon to get rid of dead skin and make your skin glow."
--Lush lashes. For fuller eyelashes, "apply baby powder in between your coats of mascara to create fuller looking lashes," says Song.
--Stray hair fix. Keep your toothbrush handy for hair touchups. "Spray hairspray on a toothbrush to calm stray or baby hairs," says makeup artist Madeline Pillajo.
--Long-lasting waves. Get long-lasting waves by braiding your hair the night before. "When you get up in the morning, take a flat iron over each braid," says Pierce, explaining that once the braids are cooled and undone, the wavy style will last all day.
--Perfect perfume. Get your scent to last all day with this beauty tip. Apply an oil-based lotion to "your wrist, behind your ear, behind your knee, inside of your elbow and on the base of your throat," says Pierce. "Once you've done that, apply the perfume on top of each spot and watch your perfume last longer than ever before."
--Fuller lips. Want to create a look of fuller lips? "Overdraw the center of the top and bottom lip and meet the ends where your normal lip ends," says Pillajo. "Then apply a lighter shade in the center, this will make them appear full and give the perfect pout."
--Dry shampoo. Want to refresh your hair? Use dry shampoo to revitalize your look. "Always apply dry shampoo in the beginning, when it is clean, at the roots," says Ritzman. "Why wait till it's dirty? This, too, gives you a few more days of hair." She also recommends applying dry shampoo to your bobby pins to give your style "better grip."
