As the seasons change, so should your makeup bag. And the best new beauty products for fall offer instant results in tiny, travel-sized portions.

"With the change of seasons come a change in skin texture and coloring, so products must transition as well," said Risi-Leanne Baranja, editor-in-chief of top beauty product review site "Consider your budget. You want to get the key basics -- slightly heavier moisturizer, semi-matte lipstick, a neutral eye shadow palette and a slightly lighter shade of concealer -- then add in one trendy item."

From the hottest mineral powders and makeup brushes to double-duty lip gloss that adds shine and freshens breath, the best beauty products for fall are potent and portable.

A new eye shadow palette is a necessity for fall. Intense hues that mirror the autumnal landscape -- think deep chocolate, amber, rust and gold -- are the hottest colors of the season, according to Baranja, especially when accented with chocolate or plum eyeliner and rich burgundy mascara.

Get the look with the very affordable and very portable e.l.f. Mineral Eye Shadows ($3,, which come in 12 translucent shades with just a hint of shimmer. The 100 percent mineral-based shadows reflect light for a flawless finish and contain vitamins A and B to hydrate and minimize the appearance of fine lines.

To get the right look, you need the right tools.

"Don't underestimate the power of a good brush," said makeup artist Shana King, founder of adesign brushes. "How you apply your makeup is just as important as the colors you choose. Using brushes will use less product. Therefore, your beauty must-haves will last you longer."

Check out the Makeup Brush Mini Set from adesign ($45,, which comes with everything needed to create a flawless finish -- brushes for foundation, powder, shadow, brows and liner, all wrapped up in a super-stylish black faux-croc case.

"During the summer, we tend to go lighter with makeup to have a natural, sun-kissed look, so when fall rolls around, a mascara that lengthens and thickens your eyelashes is a must-have to create a more dramatic, different look that draws your attention," said Nina Lin, Chicago editor for, a lifestyle guide for the fashion and beauty obsessed.

Look for Ooh-La-Lash from VMV Hypoallergenics ($23, vmvhypoallergenics), which features skin-safe iron oxide pigments and a special claylike compound that plumps as the wand moves along the lashes for ultra-thick, mega-black lashes.

"Fall is the opportunity for women to be more dramatic with their makeup looks," said Carolyn Hsu, New York editor for "Berries and golds promise to be big this season, so keep a rich-hued lipstick in your makeup bag for instant glam."

For on-the-go applications, consider the three-in-one CoverGirl Wetslicks AmazeMint in Plum Crazy, Un-Wined and Toast-ed ($5). The mint-infused lip gloss combines high shine with peppermint oil to freshen breath and blue undertones to make teeth look whiter.

Hair looking a little flat? Extend your style on the go with a dry shampoo. Pigmented powders absorb oil to instantly revitalize hair, adding body and bounce. Look for Shampowder from Buttercream Cosmetics ($16, The perfectly purse-sized, all-in-one brush applicator makes quick work of messy hair. Just dust a bit on at the roots and comb through for an extra day of style between blow outs. Shampowder is available in blonde, brunette and black.

For flawless skin all day long, carry a concealer that pulls double duty. Available in three shades, the Beauty Unblemished Treatment Concealer from Wet N Wild Beauty Benefits ($6) offers an instant fix for those midday skin surprises. The dual-ended pencil combines a hydrating concealer to cover imperfections with a 2 percent salicylic acid formula to fight blemishes and inflammation.
