Think elegant Hollywood for the stylish bridesmaid

Always a bridesmaid? Lift your head, pull back your shoulders and get ready to strut your stuff down the aisle. The bride doesn't have to be the only one in the spotlight. Bridesmaids get a turn at being glamorous, too.

At least that's what the design team of Mark Badgley and James Mischka think. They've taken the bridesmaid dress to new heights with frocks fit for Hollywood glamour queens like Eva Longoria, who gave her bridesmaids the red carpet treatment when she picked out rose-red gowns from Badgley Mischka. Other celebrities who love the design duo's elegant looks include Madonna, Catherine Zeta Jones, Jennifer Lopez, Julia Roberts, Kate Winslet and Ashley Judd.

How would your bridesmaids feel if they got this kind of star treatment when it came time to pick out their dresses? These two guys know that you can feel like a celebrity and a bridesmaid at the same time.

"Our style harks back to the glamorous Hollywood of the Forties," says Mischka. "The Badgley Mischka signature style is simple, streamlined and thoroughly elegant."

His partner agrees: "One zip and you're glamorous," says Badgley. "We like to keep things effortless."

Here are some other ways to give your bridesmaids the red carpet treatment this season:

- Choose dresses with one stunning detail, such as an embellished jewel neckline, a belted waist or an elegant train.

- Since dresses are such fashion statements this year, you may be able to find your bridesmaids' dresses in more nontraditional styles, such as trendy shorter looks that can be worn more than once.

- Take a cue from Longoria and give your bridesmaids a choice of different styles all in the same color. Many designers now offer separates that will mix and match and makes this a much easier option.

- Consider using glamorous accessories as accents, such as fur or satin wraps, elbow-length gloves, jeweled shoes, floral brooches, rhinestone hair combs or vintage earrings. One subtle touch of shine is all you need.
