America's Police Brutality Pandemic

Share Comment

Bush's "war on terror" quickly became Bush's war on Iraqi civilians. So far, over 1 million Iraqi civilians have lost their lives because of Bush's invasion, and 4 million have been displaced. Iraq's infrastructure is in ruins. Disease is rampant. Normal life has disappeared.

Self-righteous Americans justify these monstrous crimes as necessary to ensure their own safety from terrorist attack. Yet, Americans are in far greater danger from their own police forces than they are from foreign terrorists. Ironically, Bush's "war on terror" has made Americans less safe at home by diminishing U.S. civil liberty and turning an epidemic of U.S. police brutality into a pandemic.

The only terrorist most Americans will ever encounter is a policeman with a badge, nightstick, mace and Taser. A Google search for "police brutality videos" turns up 2,210,000 entries. Some entries are foreign and some are probably duplications, but the number is so large that a person could do nothing but watch police brutality videos for the rest of his life. A search on "You Tube" alone turned up 2,280 police brutality videos. PrisonPlanet has a selection of the most outrageous recent cases.

Police brutality has crossed the line from using excessive force against a resisting Rodney King to unprovoked gratuitous violence against persons offering no resistance, such as the elderly, women, students and elected officials. Americans are not safe anywhere from police. Police attack Americans in university libraries, in public meetings and in their own homes.

Last week, we had the case of the University of Florida student who was repeatedly Tasered without cause for asking Sen. John Kerry some good questions in the question and answer period following Kerry's speech. Two days after the Florida student was gratuitously brutalized, Senate Republicans defeated Vermont Democrat Patrick Leahy's bill to restore habeas corpus protection.

A UCLA student was Tasered by police without cause for studying in the university library without having his student ID on his person. Following police orders to leave, the student was walking toward the door when police grabbed him and repeatedly Tasered him.

On Sept. 19, 2007, a young woman was repeatedly Tasered without cause by a large, brutal cop in a parking lot outside a night club in Warren, Ohio.

On Sept. 14, 2007, Roseland, Ind., city council member David Snyder was ejected from a council meeting by dictatorial Council Chairman Charlie Shields. Snyder had protested being limited to one minute to speak. Police goon Jack Tiller escorted Snyder out, and as Synder exited the building, Tiller, following behind, pushed Snyder to the ground and without cause began beating Snyder in the head with a nightstick. Snyder was hospitalized.

Local TV news stations throughout the United States offer an endless stream of police brutality videos, which are then posted on the stations' Websites, often with an opportunity for citizens to express their opinion of the incidents.

There are many disturbing aspects to police brutality cases.

One is that the police always arrest the people that they have gratuitously brutalized. There was no justification whatsoever to arrest councilman Snyder, or the UCLA student, or the University of Florida student. The cops committed assault against innocent citizens. The cops should have been arrested for their criminal acts. Instead, they cover up their own crimes by arresting their victims on false charges that are invented to justify the unprovoked police violence against citizens.

Another disturbing aspect is that no one tells the police to stop the brutality. "Free" Americans are so intimidated by police that on Feb. 19 of this year male customers in a Chicago bar stood aside while a drunk cop weighing 251 pounds beat a 115 pound barmaid, knocking her to the floor with his fists and repeatedly kicking her, for obeying the bar rules and not serving him more drinks.

Yet another disturbing aspect is that a minority of citizens will justify each act of police brutality no matter how brutal and how unprovoked. For example, WNDU.com's poll of its viewers found that 64.2 percent agreed that Snyder was a victim of police brutality, but 27.8 percent thought that Snyder got what was coming to him. "Law and order conservatives" and other authoritarian personalities invariably defend acts of police brutality. Perhaps the police brutality pandemic will bring the day when we will be able to say that a civil libertarian is a law-and-order conservative who has been brutalized by police.

The most disturbing aspect is that the police usually get away with it.

I remember decades ago when civil libertarians in New York City tried to stop police brutality by establishing civilian review boards to introduce some accountability into the police's interaction with civilians.

Law-and-order conservatives at William F. Buckley's National Review went berserk. Accountability was "second-guessing" the police. The result would be a crime wave. And so on.

Police forces have always attracted bullies with authoritative personalities who desire to beat senseless anyone who does not quake in their presence. In the past, police could get away with brutalizing blacks but not whites. Today, white citizens are as likely as racial minorities to be victims of police brutality.

The police are supreme. The militarization of the police, armed now with military weapons and trained to view the general public as the enemy, against whom "pain compliance" must be used, has placed every American at risk of personal injury and false arrest from our "public protectors."

In "free and democratic America," citizens are in such great danger from police that there are Websites devoted to police brutality with online forms to report the brutality.

Nine years ago, Human Rights Watch published a report titled, "Shielded from Justice: Police Brutality and Accountability in the United States." The report stated:

"Police abuse remains one of the most serious and divisive human rights violations in the United States. The excessive use of force by police officers, including unjustified shootings, severe beatings, fatal chokings and rough treatment, persists because overwhelming barriers to accountability make it possible for officers who commit human rights violations to escape due punishment and often to repeat their offenses. Police or public officials greet each new report of brutality with denials or explain that the act was an aberration, while the administrative and criminal systems that should deter these abuses by holding officers accountable instead virtually guarantee them impunity.

"This report examines common obstacles to accountability for police abuse in 14 large cities representing most regions of the nation. The cities examined are: Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Detroit, Indianapolis, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, New Orleans, New York, Philadelphia, Portland, Providence, San Francisco and Washington, D.C. Research for this report was conducted over two and a half years, from late 1995 through early 1998.

"The brutality cases examined, which are set out in detail in chapters on each city, are similar to cases that continue to emerge in headlines and in survivors' complaints. It is important to note, however, that because it is difficult to obtain case information except where there is public scandal and/or prosecution, this report relies heavily on cases that have reached public attention; disciplinary action and criminal prosecution are even less common than the cases set out below would suggest."

There is no way to hold police accountable when the president and vice president of the United States, the attorney general and the Republican Party maintain that the civil liberties and the separation of powers mandated by the U.S. Constitution must be abandoned in order that the executive branch can keep Americans safe from terrorists.

Even before the "war on terror," federal police murdered 100 people in the Branch Davidian compound at Waco, and no one was held accountable.

Who is a terrorist? If the police and the U.S. government have the mentality of airport security, they cannot tell a terrorist from an 86-year-old Marine general on his way to give a speech at West Point. Retired Marine Corps Gen. Joseph J. Foss was delayed and nearly had his Medal of Honor confiscated. Airport security regarded the pin on the medal as a weapon that the 86-year old Marine general and former governor of South Dakota could use to hijack an airliner and commit a terrorist deed.

In America today, every citizen is a potential terrorist in the eyes of the authorities. Airport security makes this clear every minute of every day, as do the FBI and NSA with warrantless spying on our emails, postal mail and telephone calls, and every possible invasion of our privacy. We are all recipients of abuse of our constitutional rights, whether or not we suffer beatings, Taserings and false arrests.

The law makes it impossible for Americans to defend themselves from police brutality. Law-and-order conservatives have made it a felony with a long prison sentence to "assault a police officer." Assaulting a police officer means that if a police thug intends to beat your brains out with his nightstick and you disarm your assailant, you have "assaulted a police officer." If you are not shot on the spot by his backup, you will be convicted by a "law and order" jury and sent to prison.

No matter how gratuitous and violent the police brutality, a "free" American citizen can defend himself only at the expense, if not of his life, of a long stay in prison. Osama bin Laden must wish that he had such power over Americans.

I am trying to do things under the law and through the proper channels. Please let me know.
I called the cops to report an invasive crime done to me, physically in my body, and I was confined in a mental hospital for three days. The reason why they confined me in a mental hospital was because the person who original committed the crime to me is also somebody under authority and they were trying to cover it up the crime. A doctor was contacted to diagnosed me with dulusional disorder, "A DOCTOR WHOM ONLY TALKED TO ME FOR ONLY ONE MINUTE". In addition to this, they have given tickets to me on purpose in retaliation or something, What I know for sure and I can prove is that they have given the tickets to me on purpose, to the point that I have my license suspended becasue there is no point to go to court if the judge is going to believe the cop. which is what happened to me on the first ticket they gave me. the total number of tickets I have received in the last few months exceeds by almost twice the total of tickets I have in my total twenty-one years of my driving record. If you reply to me and you do not here from me is beacuse my emails are monitored as well as my phone conversations. It all started from an investigation that originated at my work which is explained below on emails, then authorithies were involved in the investigation, police, FBI, which explains the crime done in the first place which is a microship implanted in my rectum which is explained below and which i have sent to some governmental institutions with no help. There is a governmental program where they use a laser beam to apply it to people. They apply the laser beam to you in your brains or your heart or your lungs or colon and the consequences are detrimental. When they apply it to your brains it gives you a stroke, when they apply it to your heart it gives you a heart attack, when they apply it to your lungs or colon it produces cancer. Now they are trying to kill me because they are applying the laser beam permanently, if you have somebody working in prisons or certain parts of the army they can tell you. 786-399-4128 and 786-399-6398 robjtor@yahoo.com and robjor8@aol.com

I called the cops to report aan incident and I was sent to a mental hospital and they kept me there for three days. Somebody committed a crime against me and I was the one put in confinement. The crime was committed against me is much greater than the three days I spent in confinement. Please give me a call so I can explain, since it is extremely sensible.

I need your help please.
On my last job I went through a lot of unpleasant circumstances, among them it was distrust from my supervisors/owners of the company. I was their accountant. One day I had to ask for permission to step out because I had an emergency to take care and I told another coworker to inform my boss that I had stepped out in an emergency errand since the owner was not present. Another day I had the same emergency and my boss happened not to be in the company so I told my coworker to inform my supervisor again. I did not indicate where I was going at all, only for personal reasons, but when I came back to the office half an hour later, another coworker told me exactly where I had gone and what I was doing. To my surprise how she had found out about all those details, I asked her how she knew all that but my coworker just laughed. So I suspected that I had been followed, so I started to pay attention to my surroundings to discover that I was indeed been followed. One afternoon, I went to the kitchen as usual to get coffee which I did. A few seconds after I had drank the coffee, a terrible pain developed on my back. The pain was so intense that I could not sit well. Because there was so much suspicion from their part towards me I suspected that somebody had put something in the coffee pot, so I decided to go to the cops that same day at night to inform about the incident. I went to my nearest police station and I explained them the incident. They told me that they could not do anything about it and that I had to go to a doctor to be checked and have some blood test done. I asked for permission the following day to go to a doctor. I looked for a doctor on my insurance catalogue and I went to a doctor nearby my house. When I got to the doctor office they told me there were no openings that day but that they could give me appointment for their next available opening. While I was still conversing with the receptionist the phone rang to which the receptionist answered. The receptionist than said that something could possible open up later in the afternoon and that if I wanted to come back in the afternoon which I accepted. I left and returned in the afternoon. The doctor called me in into his office after the normal waiting time and I proceeded to explain to him after I had drank that coffee at my work place. To which he suggested that it could possibly be problems with my colon. I asked him how it could be my colon when I was only thirty-eight years old. He insisted that I should have my colon checked, to which I agreed since he was the physician and a professional. So he performed the test on me and he said that I was okay. A few months ago I discovered that what the doctor had done on me was not a simple colon test, but that he had implanted a tracking microchip in my rear end. During the period of time that I noticed that I had been followed, I was asked by my daughter's catechism teacher to cover for her for the next teaching year because she wanted to take a break, to which I accepted with much pleasure because I had always like the spiritual things and activities. So, I decided to take a few courses on catechism teaching prior to the beginning of the new school year. Although, I was a catholic my whole life I had been introduced to Christianity and evangelism through television for about a year or less. I also found out that they had also installed tracking devices in my vehicles. My telephone conversations were also tapped. My computers were also interfered and monitored through a network system via wireless. My house was under constant and permanent surveillance day and night. They accused of spying on my catholic church, little they know that I had been attending to it for the last twenty years, just because I would watched Christian television and would listened to Christian radio. I was followed everywhere I would go. I was accused of committing incest with my oldest daughter just because I had acknowledge to her by phone that they were playing on the radio some music that she liked . I found out later on that the company that I was working for had accused me of stealing information from them. I also found out that during the time that I was teaching catechism I had been accused of been a pedophile. I also found out that they had accused me of been homosexual, not that I have any problems with gay people on the contrary my closest coworkers have been gay. One day that I gone to Walmart there was a man in the middle of one of the isles and he was saying allowed, “HAS HE BEEN CAUGHT ALREADY?, HAS HE BEEN CAUGHT ALREADY? he was saying it at loud to the people while he was staring at me. I noticed that this same man was a few days earlier at the entrance of that same Walmart store sitting on a bench wearing a uniform as if he was working in the tire service center of that Walmart. This same man moved in next door to my house a couple of weeks later. At he beginning of this year I found out that this man is one of the people that had not following me but also that he had been doing surveillance on me, and I also found out that he had seduced my wife. This man is somebody under authority and also part of the conspiration among police officers to give me tickets left and right explained abov e. The persecution was so intense and severe that even the people from my church knew about it and I had no support from anybody that I had to leave the church. Then I went to another church, this time a Christian church, and the persecution was still present. So I decided to go another church but they went to that church too. I had been telling my family about the persecution during all this time but they did not believe me. I requested my family to go with me to a doctor to do a colonoscopy so they can verify with me about the microchip, to which they accepted but instead of going to a physician to do the colonoscopy they lied to me and made an appointment with a psychologist instead. Once in the office I accepted to talk to the psychologist. I explained him that I had persecution and that it could be proved by just doing a colonoscopy test and he just diagnosed me of been delusional. Such diagnosis based on a two minutes conversation in which he did not bother to refer me to a physician to do a colonoscopy to verify what I am saying. I found out that people under authority had been part of this persecution and also the ones responsible for the implantation of the microchip in my rear end. I called the cops this past Tuesday, 09/28/10, to report the crime of the microchip and they confined me into a mental hospital for three days. I was released and the first thing I did this week is to look for a civil rights lawyer to protect my rights a s United States Citizen and now they want to put me again into this mental hospital through my family. I requested a simple colonoscopy test to prove that the persecution was not only real but also to the degree of this invasive persecution, but they did not pay any attention. All they are trying to do is to cover up for the whole thing and make me look that I am insane just to cover up for the whole thing. I need your advice please.
