Barack, Roosevelt and Medicare “Pumps”

Share Comment

Dear Mark: Barack Obama knows no shame. He previously tried to compare himself to Presidents Lincoln, Truman, FDR and Reagan, and this week during a speech in Kansas he tried to compare himself to Teddy Roosevelt. Where does he get off drawing such outrageous comparisons? — I Knew Jack Kennedy

Dear Knew: That's easy. If Barack Obama actually ran as the President Obama of the last three years, he wouldn't stand a chance at re-election. Obama took Teddy Roosevelt, a well revered Republican president, out of historical context in order to portend to the American people that his disastrous economic plans are mainstream. I'll tip my hat to Obama for actually getting through that speech while keeping a straight face.

Obama claimed in his speech that Roosevelt knew that "the free market has never been a free license to take whatever you can from whomever you can." The president is right because these days' "taking whatever you can" seems to be the job of the government.

The president's speech sounded more like a petulant child whining about fairness when he didn't get a pony for his birthday while his rich neighbor did. Obama tried his best to inspire when he said, "I believe that this country succeeds when everyone gets a fair shot, when everyone does their fair share, when everyone plays by the same rules."

Oh, how warm and fuzzy. What he's actually telling America is that the so called rich in our country don't do their fair share and that they cheated to become wealthy. What an absolute insult to the successful people who helped make the United States an economic superpower.

As for rules, the rules for success are simple: study hard, work hard and persevere no matter what a bleeding heart liberal president throws in your way.

Apparently, Obama's only solution is to take money from the rich and redistribute it to others.

Can anyone out there please explain in detail how forcibly taking more money from a few thousand Americans and giving it to Congress will create millions of jobs and save the economy?

Dear Mark: I am furious at the irresponsibility of our government. An analysis of Medicare spending showed that over the last 10 years Medicare spent a quarter of a billion dollars on penis pumps. The libs in Congress whine that they can't find areas to reduce spending; wouldn't this be a good place to cut? — No Pump Paul in Pawhuska

Dear No Pump: Ahhh, so many jokes, so little space. A man on Medicare might not want to use the term "cut" necessarily, but I agree with your point. Liberals and the media have painted the tea party and Republicans as refusing to raise taxes in order to protect the wealthy. The reality is that examples like "pumpgate" are why conservatives want to see a thorough scrubbing of the federal budget before there is one penny in tax increases.

Candidate Obama promised to go over the budget line by line to eliminate waste, yet as president he somehow missed the $250 million spent on penis pumps. Maybe he thought the devices were solar- or wind-powered. Then again, Obama does believe in giving everyone a "fair shot," and that must also include in the bedroom.

Most of the time I don't have trouble rendering an opinion, but in this case I can't decide if inflation is a good thing or a bad thing, or maybe simply a writer's opportunity to use a cheap double entendre.
