"Do It for Ted" a Great Bumper Sticker

Dear Mark: I believe it would be a fitting tribute to name the health care reform legislation after the late Sen. Ted Kennedy. Will Democrats invoke his name, and will that help pass this badly needed legislation? — Ted Fan in Sox Land

Dear Ted Fan: "Do It for Ted" will look cute stuck on the bumper of a Prius, and it does sound like a clever rallying cry. Slapping his name on this beast of a bill is like putting pearls on a pig, however.

Don't fall for the hype. The Democrats using Kennedy's name is more of a political act of desperation than a sincere tribute to one of their fallen liberal icons. This stunt will not change the minds of most Americans, as they have seen the Democrats' health care reform proposal and have spoken out loudly against it based on its merits.

On second thought, considering how liberal this man was, the "Ted Kennedy Screw the Taxpayers for Generations to Come Health Care Reform Bill" might be a better tribute than erecting a statue in Boston.

Dear Mark: You people who supported George W. Bush have been proven wrong once again. President Obama's approach to terrorism through international relations has been more successful than W's according to National Security Advisor Jim Jones. He was on ABC News and basically said we have killed, captured and identified more high value targets through the administration's global approach to terrorism. What do you have to say about that, Mr. Neocon? — Ta Ta to Terrorism in Telluride

Dear Ta Ta: Well, the proof is in the numbers. Oh, wait, Jones didn't provide any numbers and stated he was not "making a tally sheet saying we are killing more people, capturing more people than they did." Isn't that what liberals are trying to do with youth sports — not keep score to determine a winner?

He did say, however: "Because of the dialogue and the tone of the dialogue between us and our friends, our allies ...

the trend line against terrorism is positive, and that's what we want. If we have a positive trend line, we have a safer country."

Huh? This sounds like a marketing plan, not an anti-terrorism strategy. Forget about trend lines, the more dead terrorists we have, the safer our country will be. With Iran continuing to go after nukes and North Korea firing missiles and selling secrets to Iran, not to mention President Obama handcuffing the CIA's intelligence gathering, I find it hard to believe these kids are better at fighting terrorism than Bush and Dick Cheney.

By the way, allowing a convicted terrorist to return to Libya to a hero's welcome doesn't speak well of President Obama's international relations and his global approach to terrorism.

Dear Mark: I just saw the latest Rasmussen survey in which 57 percent of respondents would vote to replace the entire Congress. Wouldn't it be nice if Americans actually had that choice? — Wistfully Wishing in Wichita

Dear Wistfully: How could that be possible when Nancy Pelosi said that all the anger seen at the town hall meetings was manufactured by Republicans, insurance companies and astroturf? Another survey finding you may have missed was that the remaining 43 percent of respondents would like to see the entire Congress dipped in honey and thrown into the bear exhibit at the San Diego Zoo. Rep. Barney Frank was rumored to have said that honey-dipping isn't as bad as you might think.
