What's the Opposite of Constitution? You remember the old joke? It goes something like this: If "pro" is the opposite of "con," what's the opposite of Congress? Of course, the answer is progress. I've got a couple of new variations on the old one-liner: Question: What's the only part of the Constitution Barack Obama observes? Answer: The first syllable. Get it? Then there's this one — more in line with the original. Question: What's the opposite of Constitution? Answer: Prostitution. And that's pretty much the state of Washington today under the leadership of Obama, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid. We all know the first definition of prostitution. But the second is something along these lines: "The act or an instance of offering or devoting one's talent to an unworthy use or cause." You tell me that is not what is going on in Washington right now. The only question is whether any talent is involved. The unworthy cause, in this instance, is quite literally the destruction of the American Dream. What's the definition of "the American Dream"? It's quite simply this: "The hope for prosperity and happiness, symbolized particularly by having a house of one's own. Possibly applied at first to the hopes of immigrants, the phrase now applies to all except the very rich and suggests a confident hope that one's children's economic and social condition will be better than one's own." Let me ask you this: With Washington's compulsion to address America's debt problem with unprecedented levels of more debt, do you have any confidence, or even hope, that your children's economic and social condition will be better than your own? Not only must we put an end to this madness, we must reverse it. Obama and his cronies in Washington didn't begin this headlong drive to effectively end self-government in America and replace it with tyranny.
And, as I stated time and again beginning more than a year ago, when tyranny bears its teeth, there's an opportunity to defeat it. In defeating it, we have the hope of creating an America better than the one we had for the last 20 years. I really believe that. How? America needed an awakening. And, say what you will about Obama, Pelosi and Reid, they have given us a wake-up call. I am so encouraged by the response of the American people to Washington's initiatives in the last year. In my lifetime, I have never witnessed a political about-face as dramatic as the one we have seen since the last election. This year, we have another election — one that looks to be as historic as any in modern American history. I believe it will be far more potent than the electoral revolution we saw in 1994 — and will be potentially far more long-lasting in its impact. This is exactly what I predicted in my worst-selling book of last year, "None of the Above." I told the handful that read it to take heart — that the election of Obama would not be the end of the world, but potentially herald a new beginning. So far so good. But our work is just beginning. Next month, the tea party movement is holding its first-ever national convention. I predict it will be a major nation-shaking event in our political landscape. I hope you will join me and Sarah Palin there. I hope you will not get discouraged by what you see happening in Washington. Angered? Yes. Discouraged? No. We're going to take America back. We're going to reclaim Congress and turn it into progress. We're going to reclaim the Constitution and stop the prostitution and the big Con-job. We're going to save the world's first great experiment in self-government and put an end to tyranny. We're going to restore the American Dream. Believe it. Fight for it.
