Obama: 'We Can't Control Nature'He said it! He admitted it! But does he believe it? Of course, Barack Obama talks a lot. He never seems to stop talking. He talks so much that, oftentimes, his words seem to go right over the heads of the news media. Such was the case before the recent tsunami hit Hawaii. He said, and I quote: "Once again, we've been reminded of the awful devastation that can come at a moment's notice. We can't control nature, but we can and must be prepared for disaster when it strikes." For once, I totally agree with what Obama said. In fact, I think most everyone does. But does he mean it when he concedes, "we can't control nature"? Isn't that exactly what he seeks to do through cap-and-trade legislation? Isn't that exactly what he seeks to do when he fans the flames of climate-change hysteria? Isn't that exactly what he seeks to do when he claims catastrophic, man-made "global warming" is a scientific reality that threatens civilization as we know, and we need to remake our economy to address it immediately by reducing carbon dioxide and water vapor emissions? Obama made the statement recently, and I have not seen anyone point out the seeming contradiction, let alone ask him about it. Was it a slip-up? Was it a gaffe? Or was he dead-on right? For months, interviewers have been asking me if I agree with Obama on anything. I've been hard-pressed to come up with an example of a statement or a policy with which I agree. But recently he said something I can wholeheartedly embrace: "We can't control nature." If he truly believes that, why does he continue to promote the climate hysteria? Is that not a worthy question for the president? I think it is. However, I also think I know the answer. Obama does know he's right when he makes this unequivocal, factual statement.
For Obama and Al Gore and the rest of the climate hysterics, "global warming" is a means to an end. They seek to extract wealth from the private sector, redistribute it (in Al Gore's case, mainly to himself), and remake the world in their own image. They have always wanted to do that — even before they dreamed up "global warming" as the crisis du generation. All of their policy prescriptions have the same aims. Before the crisis creators told us the globe was heating up, they claimed it was cooling down. The prescription? Exactly the same. Only a global elite taking drastic action, curtailing freedoms and, of course, spending untold billions on new priorities could solve the problem. But now Obama is contradicting himself. He is admitting, "We can't control nature." Does this raise questions in your mind as to whether controlling nature was ever the goal? It certainly does in my mind. Maybe Obama doesn't really want or expect to control nature. Maybe he just wants to control your life. Maybe he just wants to control the lives of all Americans. And maybe he sees climate crisis as a means to an end. Not one person has died of global warming, but plenty of people were killed by freezing temperatures this winter. There is no crisis. Nor will there be a crisis in the future — at least not because of man's activity on the planet. And even if the planet were warming, there's nothing man could do about it. In a roundabout way, Obama has admitted just that. "Man can't control nature." When he's right, he's right. And this time, Obama got it exactly right. Now it's time to force him to live up to his own words by abandoning the crisis mongering.
