I'm for More Gun Control

Comment

The federal government bought firearms in the U.S. and sold them to the Mexican drug cartels — guns that ended up killing American law enforcement officers and an untold numbers of civilians in the U.S. and Mexico.

The Department of Homeland Security purchased 1.6 billion rounds of ammunition, including hollow points — a supply that, according to some sources, should be enough to last 100 years.

The Department of Homeland Security has ordered thousands of automatic weapons already banned for sale to U.S. citizens.

Nearly every federal agency — from the Environmental Protection Agency to FEMA — arms its field personnel, often with firearms unavailable to the citizenry.

For decades, the civilian side of the federal government has been purchasing military-style weaponry without any explanation to the citizenry as to why this is necessary.

Barack Obama now famously remarked during his first campaign that he wanted to build a "civilian national security force" as well-funded as the Department of Defense.

It is with all this and more in mind that I now proclaim my 100 percent support for stricter gun control laws — laws that would effectively disarm the civilian side of the U.S. government, other than legitimate police agencies such as the FBI and Secret Service.

The next time you hear an elected or appointed federal official suggesting further restrictions on firearms and ammunition purchases by citizens, understand what is happening. The federal government is attempting to monopolize armed force in America. This is directly contrary to the spirit and letter of the Constitution's Second Amendment.

America's founders were not attempting to protect the rights of hunters and sportsmen when they ratified the Second Amendment.

Their intent was clear: Like almost everything else they wrote in the Constitution, it represented a check on the tendency of a central government to grab more and more power over time. This was the ultimate counterbalance to that historical trend — to ensure that civilians would be able to resist the imposition of tyranny with armed force.

George Mason, co-author of the Second Amendment, put it this way during Virginia's convention to ratify the Constitution: "I ask, Sir, what is the militia? It is the whole people. To disarm the people is the best and most effectual way to enslave them."

Is that clear enough?

Samuel Adams explained: "And that the said Constitution be never construed to authorize Congress to infringe the just liberty of the Press, or the rights of Conscience; or to prevent the people of the United States, who are peaceable citizens, from keeping their own arms; ..."

Any doubts about what that means?

Patrick Henry added: "The great object is that every man be armed," and "Everyone who is able may have a gun."

Thomas Jefferson stated: "The constitutions of most of our States assert that all power is inherent in the people; that ... it is their right and duty to be at all times armed; ... "

There is simply no doubt about what the founders had in mind when they crafted the Second Amendment. They wanted a government accountable to the people, not subjects accountable to government.

But everything has been turned upside-down by today's permanent political class and a media that have forsaken their own sacred obligation to serve as a watchdog on government.

That's why it's not enough to resist further attempts to disarm the citizenry in America.

It's time for the people to disarm the government.

Sir;... If you are trying to encourage fear of the government, you are right to do so as long as it is republicans in charge...You know the democrats can hardly find their butts with both hands, and they don't really want to shoot people, and would prefer to kill them with kindness, if at all... Even in the international sphere, they only kill because it is expected of them by republicans who think if no one is getting killed, nothing is getting done... They are absolutely right to consider where possible the option of talking a subject to death, or until people get bored and fall asleep...This tactic will simply not be allowed by the republicans...
I would like to think that the democrats really prefer to give all the guns to the republican voting heartlanders so that if they do not win the election they can simply shoot the opposition...The people of the country have not changed, and the republican party has changed to suit them; so what those people used to do they would just as soon do, and will do again if they do not get their way...It is hard to tell a man with a gun that his vote does not count for more than a man's vote without the gun backup...
It is sad to hear all those republicans who got voted out saying I really didn't lose my job... I still know where it is; but when I go there a democrat is not doing it as much as I once didn't...Ya; a gun would make all the difference in the world to them, and honestly, who cares if those folks blow their ear drums out... It isn't as though they need them for Rock and Roll, or pansy Opera...And who cares if instead, they use earplugs since they only use their ears to mark the diameter or their heads, and if they used their ears, then they only need their heads to keep them apart...
I don't have time for fear... I some one wants me to fear them; I take them seriously... If you want me to fear some third party, I will tell you I am shakin in my boots; but I'll be laughing through my hat...
I am sure enough scared; but not for the reason you fear...All the arms the government had in the South fell into the hands of the the secession in their great rebellion... Nothing the government owns; and unfortunately that also means the nukes- is safe from the idiots with a will... The only thing that will bring the heartlanders around is reason, and that is a foreign concept they view with suspicion, and manage only as far as mechanics is concerned...

Joeseph thank you for bringing up this very well-hidden topic. This "civilain national defense force" is only going to lead us further to tyranny. The rate at which Obama is killing people and arming the government while disarming citizens goes beyond disturbing.

Re: Chris McCoy;... I hear charges... Where is the evidence??? I mean; if you have a case, then make it... We do have laws, and even if we are inclined to let presidents dance all over them, they still exist, and tend to make the judgement in history that cannot be made in a court... Still, charges do not make a case; but evidence does... What are the facts... What are the names, the dates, the faces, the figures...
