Breitbart Learns the Hard Way About GOProud

Share Comment

I hate to say, "I told you so." Andrew Breitbart is learning the hard way what it means to be a conservative.

And it doesn't mean promoting a political organization that seeks to redefine a 6,000-year-old moral code or one that defines itself by its members' own peculiar sexual practices. If you don't know what I'm talking about, here's the long and the short of it.

Last week, GOProud — the Republican-leaning, gay activist group that likes same-sex marriage, hate-crime laws and open lesbianism, transgenderism, transvestism and other perversions in the U.S. military — attacked presidential candidate Rick Perry for speaking out against the latter of the group's pet causes — one on which they are in total harmony with Barack Obama.

In doing so, GOProud "outed" a prominent member of Perry's campaign as gay. That provoked the following statement from Breitbart: "It is with sincere regret that I announce I must step down as a GOProud advisory member. On numerous occasions, I have spoken with Jimmy LaSalvia and Chris Barron of the significant impact the practice of 'outing' had in my evolution from the political left to the right. I was under the absolute impression that both agreed. I have a zero-tolerance attitude toward the intentional infliction of vocational and family harm by divulging the details of an individual's sexual orientation as a weapon of political destruction. As an 'advisory board member' I was not consulted on this extreme and punitive act. Clearly, there are more productive means to debate controversial ideas and settle conflicts. Therefore, I cannot in good conscience stand with GOProud. I still stand by gay conservatives who boldly and in the face of much criticism from many fronts, fight for limited government, lower taxes, a strong national defense as well as the other core conservative principles."

Here's what GOProud co-founder Jimmy LaSalvia tweeted to the world that angered Breitbart: "I've just about had it with faggots who line their pockets with checks from anti-gay homophobes while throwing the rest of us under the bus." He later added, "I was talking about Rick Perry's pollster/strategist."

Co-founder Barron also tweeted: "Rick Perry's pollster and strategist is a gay guy.

Totally disgusting."

Let me repeat what I said when I led the effort to remove GOProud from participation in the Conservative Political Action Conference last year and when I debated Barron on the topic of whether GOProud can even be considered "conservative." Any person or group seeking to topple the Judeo-Christian moral code and glorify sin, which is exactly what GOProud is all about, can never be considered "conservative" or the term loses all meaning.

It is the political left that separates people by sex, by race, by ethnicity, by social standing, by income and through a thousand other classifications in an effort to divide and conquer in the name of greater state control.

It was the political left that birthed the gay agenda by asserting what people do in the privacy of their own bedrooms was a private matter — only to make it everyone's business. Now, under Barack Obama, the U.S. federal government will become a global sex cop and make Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender status as a preferential designation for immigrants into the country.

I have no doubt these policies will please the extremists at GOProud.

Any group or individual who supports same-sex marriage, hate-crimes laws and radical social engineering in our military can never be considered conservative.

To be conservative means to uphold and defend the very foundation of Western civilization, not just tax cuts. To be conservative means to uphold and defend the sanctity of marriage as the building block of our society, not just the free-enterprise system. To be conservative means to uphold and defend freedom of speech and freedom of thought, not just Republicans. To be conservative means to uphold and defend the U.S. military's war-fighting ability against the social engineers, not just federal spending cuts.

Will Ann Coulter, who sits on that same GOProud advisory board, finally get a clue? Will Grover Norquist, who sits on that same advisory board, have an epiphany now? Will the rest of the conservative movement finally comprehend what these people are doing?

It's time to recognize what GOProud truly is — an enemy of conservatism inside the gates, the well-funded, well-heeled, perpetrators of a "homo con," a term the group affectionately uses for its own fabulous confabs.

RINOs and DINOs are necessary for the political system to work. Without them, people would mindlessly follow the party lines and nothing would get done due to all the partisanship. Besides, people actually have opinions of their own, after all. I'm liberal, but I'm opposed to abortion, for example.
