The Coming Revolution

Share Comment

I believe a revolution is coming to America. Just as Hurricane Ike slammed into my home state of Texas, I am more and more convinced as every year passes that a needed voter revolution is brewing and will arrive imminently at America's shores and ballot boxes.

The birth pains for this voter revolution can be seen through the highs and lows of current political polarities. I believe it was felt through the surge of the constitutional community supporting Rep. Ron Paul. I believe it was felt in evangelicals' and conservatives' frustration with our present presidential picks. I believe it is felt in the heightened responses to John McCain's "Hail Mary throw" for vice president in Sarah Palin. And I believe it is felt in Americans' virtually unanimous disapproval rating (roughly 91 percent) for Congress.

Of course, America has some good congressmen, such as Ron Paul. But the fact is those good politicians are few and far between. The majority of them need to be replaced, and the rest of them need our help to do it.

A voter revolution would usher in politicians who make sweeping and radical changes, including disposing of the unconstitutional Internal Revenue Service and replacing it with a "fair tax." These are leaders who genuinely commit to the America established by our Founders, drastically cut government waste, immediately stop pork-barrel spending, reject political perks and lobbyists, quit borrowing from other nations (such as China), cease imperialism and nation building, lessen the flow of so much government aid overseas, and bring back production and pride in American commerce, etc.

The way I see it, there are three major common-sense steps toward a voter revolution:

First, examine your representatives from the top down, and ask yourself: Do they represent the people? Do they stand by the Constitution? Do they reduce big government, taxes and our deficit? Are they working to protect our borders and sovereignty? Will they stand up to governmental status quo and gridlock? Do they have the type of character that can resist the temptations of political power and special interest groups?

Second, if your answer is "no" to any of the above, get them out of office. Petition their dismissal; publicize their political problems; and muster community consent in order to vote others in.

Call them by name on blogs, and explain to people why they should be ousted; then do it. No more talk. Stay the course, no matter how long it takes.

Third, fight to vote in solid, reputable, law-abiding, Constitution-honoring representatives. Half our problem today is that we have been duped to vote into office individuals who have no integrity. A politician's integrity must precede our interests because if leaders are above reproach, then they are more likely to do what they've promised. And if you can't find a more upstanding citizen than you are, then consider running for public office. It's time to get out of the bleachers and onto the battlefield.

You know the words of the British orator Edmund Burke, "Evil flourishes when good men do nothing." Well, evil has flourished for too long. It's time for the good people to rise up in another voter revolution. Don't be like the 90,000 people who ignored the evacuation orders as Hurricane Ike approached. Don't just sit back and hope it turns out OK. Get involved. Start in your community. Fight for your country and state. And together, we can reawaken our country.

It's time we all revive the revolutionary spirit of America's Founders and reinvigorate their legacy. I've experienced a renewed sense of appreciation and commitment to them, and in my new book, "Black Belt Patriotism," I talk about how a spark of their passion can turn into a raging cultural fire:

"It doesn't take many people to foster a revolution. Jesus did it with twelve disciples. George Washington did it with his few suffering troops at Valley Forge. And we can do it today. We can set a new direction for America with people like you and me, who through our efforts in our communities and at the ballot box and in our personal lives can make this country everything it should be, everything our nation's Founders wanted it to be. America has fallen asleep at the wheel and it's time for her to wake up before it's too late. It's up to us; and this book is my way of showing where we can start."

I heard once that it only took 2 percent of our population to create our nation and that it still would take only 2 percent to change it today. If you don't like what you see in America, then join me by being a part of the new 2 percent. If you're with me, then you know the road ahead will not be easy and the war will not be won easily, but the rewards (I promise you) will be ultimately glorious.

Thanks, Chuck. Appreciate your support for Ron Paul, as I believe he is a strong Christian. Re: the coming revolution, I think you have the same problem over there as we do here. Our established political parties will no longer act in the interests of the nation. We call them 'the old gangers.' Your parties over there seem the same, with only individual exceptions.
While I would extend every hope for success to Senator McCain and Governor Palin, I wonder whether the longer term solution would be to form another party, e.g. the All-America Party, that would genuinely honour the Constitution. There is growing support over here for the British National Party, which is now the only political show in town for Britons concerned about their nation, which is suffering the same strife as yours. Black Belt Patriotism shows tremendous parallels with the UK.

Sir: this is still a wonderful country if a poor uneducated man like myself can tell a rich guy like you that your head is full of beans. And it is. If you want a constitutional tax; tax property! This was a better country when capital had to hop to it, or get on the auction block. Labor was worth something when the people knew that property had to pay the taxes or be lost, and property was cheaper too when its ownership meant being productive. When the income tax was first made constitutional it affected a fraction of the people. Would any one vote for that amendment today, now that the burden of the whole country is carried by labor? Sure; I think we should talk about it, but it is irresponsible to call for revolution. I have been a revolutionary forever. You don't see me waving a red flag or a shoe on a pole. Everyones idea of revolution is different, but almost every sense of the word is violent, and it is irresponsible to talk violence when each side is frustrated, overworked, and angry... You talk about representatives. My constitution says not more than one representative for every thirty thousand. What fraction of a representative does every thirty thousand have now??? The house limited its number and the Supreme Court let them rule themselves. What happened to the constitution? Was that just a big loop hole?.. Why not have just one representative in the house? If the object is their ease instead of our good government, why not let them limit their number absolutly? If we had representatives at the correct ratio to population, I would be happy to have you elect any number of nut heads just like yourself. It is better that way, with government having the discussions we cannot all have as a nation. But I see, and many others see how much ideology is pushing the parties further and further away from each other, and dividing the nation. No republican in a safe district has to fear a democrat. He does have to fear the zealots and ideologues on his own side who push him further right, and make national compromise impossible. And I will not justify it. Government should govern to the situation, and God is not a part of that situation. We have religious freedom in this country, and it extends to making every church a tax free bank of wealth that reduces every member's cost for social affairs, daycare, and emotional support. My constitution says nothing about furthering Christianity as a goal, but says: Liberty, justice, defense, union, welfare, and domestic tranquility. I'm waiting while the churches get what they want, stirring up hatred and disunion in the process, exporting our common defense, denying justice and liberty... I will not deny that we need revolution, or representation. I will say we need to talk about our forms much, much more. We need to talk about forms of government, forms of community and economy, all forms of relationship. And, just as Jefferson talked about forms in the Declaration of Independence, we need to talk about how to change forms, peacefully. We need government to deliver on the promises it has made, and not on the power you pray for. We need to talk about what all might justly expect from government.... Ideology, and ideologues have been running this country for far too long, pushing it right, making government worse, and blaming their victims for their own suffering. If you want to govern this country, start with your own mouths, and your own communities. When you live perfect lives, and can supply your own needs; then, interfere with the state. The state must work for all, and religion only works for a few; and it makes kings of its leaders, irresponsible, responsible to no man. Religion belongs in the past, and not running the government. As Aristotle noted: Good is the object of government. Too many of you, like the felon, Colson argue that good is not the object of government, but of religion. Who's stopping you? Do good; but don't stop government from doing good so you can feel better about yourselves.... Thanks... Sweeney

Sir...And something else... Girls throw, pitchers pitch, and quarterbacks pass. It's a Hail Mary Pass, from the American game of football, named after the prayer, like the one our government is saying while it waits to see if the money it is passing the banks is going to fall into the right hands or just be down the rat hole with all the other money we give to the rich. You have to broaden your horizon. Don't throw your pitch like a girl, throw your punch like a man. I hope all you kung fu fighters don't think you have a right to your opinions too. What did Kung fu ever do for America? Be a man. Pick a sport. Any Sport. Thanks... Sweeney

Why did you not support Ron Paul to begin with? It is too little to late. Americans are dumbed down and don't have a clue. Read about NAU and One World Government. It is all planned to go this way. I pray Americans start researching and thinking for themselves instead of believing everything they hear on tv. Good luck and God Bless .
