The Abortionist Saints of Sundance

Robert Redford's Sundance Film Festival featured a documentary celebrating four "amazing" abortionists who evacuate wombs in the third trimester of pregnancy. The critics in attendance loved it. The Philadelphia Inquirer boasted it drew "two standing ovations — one for the doctors."

Sundance attendees in Utah were greeted by police and armed sheriffs in green jumpsuits that made a show of force outside the theater. They had to have their bags searched and were inspected with handheld metal detectors. After the movie was shown, two police officers stood at the front of the auditorium as the directors and the four abortionists featured in the film answered audience questions.

The message was clear: pro-lifers are dangerous.

The film's name is "After Tiller," as in the late-term abortionist George Tiller, shot to death in 2009 inside his Lutheran church on a Sunday in Kansas. The filmmakers are two deluded women in their 20s, Martha Shane and Lana Wilson. They claim this film is non-political, that it's calm in tone.

"Our agenda is not political but humanist," they declared in a statement. "The nation's shouting match over abortion has become increasingly distanced from the real-life situations and decisions faced by those people most intimately involved," and so they aspired to "shed more light rather than more heat" on the issue.

"Those people most intimately involved" in an abortion are the ones aborted. For them, there is no shouting match. They have no voice.

As for the film's tone, consider this quote: "We're 40 years after Roe v. Wade, and the women in America are in worse shape than they were 40 years ago. Their rights are being trampled in the street." This quote came from abortionist and activist LeRoy Carhart in the film. This was the line singled out by Marlow Stern as he began his promotional article for the Daily Beast.

A trailer for the documentary shows there's more venom where that came from. After "After Tiller" was shot, Carhart said, "there were no other thoughts in my mind but to carry out the mission." But in Kansas, said Carhart, "The Republican Party said I was an abomination and should be driven from the state."

He demonized the pro-life movement: "You don't give in to terrorists because it only gets worse."

The film also stars Dr.

Warren Hern, who is perpetually bombastic and coarse. He says in the trailer, "When I walk out the front door, I expect to be assassinated." The Daily Beast put this Hern quote in large type: "When abortion doctors are assassinated, the political right has celebrated those assassinations. It's a very serious and dark matter in American society."

This is a flagrant, shameless lie. Not one serious pro-life group on the political right has done that.

The filmmakers say they want to "shed light" and not have a "shouting match" in a debate that's "extremely polarized," and they hope Americans would "evaluate their positions in a more honest, thoughtful and complicated way." But they're just the latest in a long line of extremely polarizing leftist propagandists, angrily blurring the truth.

Shane and Wilson claimed the media's coverage of Tiller's death was too balanced and incomplete. The media incorrectly called Tiller "controversial" and "got talking points from the both sides of the issue and ended it there." More distortions. In fact, Tiller news stories often omitted or sidelined the pro-lifers' horror and celebrated the abortionist just as these people do.

When asked how they got the two female abortionists in the film to talk, Shane and Wilson admitted their two subjects first granted interviews tor Rachel Maddow for her MSNBC special, "The Assassination of Dr. Tiller." They failed to acknowledge other in-depth celebrations of Drs. Carhart and Hern, like the very one-sided, half-hour on the primetime PBS program, "Now," just weeks after Tiller's death.

Leftists warn of "anti-choice extremists," but see nothing extreme in killing a perfectly viable baby in the last weeks of pregnancy, which even most "pro-choice" people refuse to support. Shane thinks these abortionists of last resort are some of America's greatest doctors. They "provide amazing care by any standard," and "they're unbelievably good listeners. This should be a model for all medical care in this country." Then Wilson claimed they made a movie that does "not tell people what to think."

The Catholic League's indefatigable Bill Donohue sums it up brilliantly: "'After Tiller' tries to put a human face on an inhuman practice, and it fails. Here's the proof: the film never shows the patients' faces, though permission was granted."

Sir; must be nice to be a little pink rat of a man, secure in your life, and never having to worry about dying for what you believe in, say, or do for a living... I must admit, that after ten year out of the racket I was in, where my feet never hit the floor in the morning without my saying consciously to myself, that today you may die, that the idea of it is becoming a little bit strange... But it is not forgotten...
You have no right to tell any woman she cannot have a legal, and safe abortion... You have no right to tell her what she cannot and can do with her body... If she is not free in her body at a minimin, she is free in no sense of the word, and since your freedom of speech is based upon her basic civil liberties, you should be a good person, and shut your trap...
You have no right to turn what is essentially a privilage of press to the destruction of civil rights... You abuse the fact that no one presses you on the issue to think you have the right; but you do not...If you find some one acting or speaking in ways that interfere with the rights of others, you not only have the right , but the obligation to speak up on the matter... And that is what I am doing...
You want to say children unborn have rights; and I say to you, that if the mother had all of her rights, which would amount to justice, she would welcome children into this world, and have time and money for them...
You want to say children unborn have rights, and by this same argument, their unborn children have rights, and if this is true then on and on, and by that same argument, the government, and the citizen who takes rights from our posterity to blow, or trash, or turn to cash are all criminals..
You want to say that children unborn have rights, then this must mean that children born have rights, and what are you doing about that??? Are the rights of born children only the problem of their parents, and are only the rights of unborn children your concern; then if so, you are being selective to the point of denying all your human responsibility to humanity...
Children unborn, or born do not have more rights than their parents, but all children everywhere have only the rights they recieve from their parents...The whole course of our society has been to accept some rights, to deny some rights, and to leave the matter sort of open ended... That is to say: If a state agrees that people have a right, then no state can deny that right... Yet they do deny rights, and this is an impossibly high standard...It is also thought by many, that only a majority vote is necessary to deny or limit a right and this is false, though commonly accepted... There is not one right that would not be endangered if it were left to a majority... Rights act to protect all by protecting minorities, because if it is only a matter of majority, then what of majority of force, or majority of rhetoric???
Your problem is that mothers are demeaned, forced to bear hard lives alone as the price of having some one to lavish their attention, love, and affection on... We do nothing as a matter of fact, for them, and do much to inhibit them, and cause them suffering...We abuse them, and hang their fatherless children around their necks like an albatross... The difference between them and men is only a matter of degrees...
Life is meaning...Talking of the meaning of life is like talking about the wetness of water...You can have more or less water, but not dryer or wetter water... You can have more life only with more meaning, and more meaning with more life... What happens to the life spent only on having enough money to survive??? Working people give the greatest share of their lives to employment where they are reduced to selling their meaning, their time, their lives for pennies...
What is your time worth??? I will grant you that it is worth so damned much to you that you will not spend a moment of it dragging an orphan out of his hole, and into the sunlight of a zoo...You are a valuable man, with a valuable life, and yet you think the child in some woman's womb is worth only your abuse... What do any of you people do for those desparate mothers???... Do you lift even a finger to give them meaning for a moment...Would you trade a moment of your life for a month of hers???... You value your life, and you should think everyone should feel as you do, and value their lives so highly as to share some of it with a baby...Face the facts...

Babies are monsters, complete tyrants, demanding absolute devotion... When your boss is as much of a tyrant as any child ever was; a dink, a fink, a clown who abuses you because there are more in line waiting for your job, who are you going to serve??? Most will serve the tyrant they cannot live without, and forget the one they must forgo...
There is no term in the English language that so connect the notions of ignorance and cruelty as those who attack abortion rights...The closest term is criminal, but these criminals call themselves pro life... You are a criminal, and all like you are criminals... You accept a society that denies people life, and rights and meaning, and then you abuse people who suffer that society for killing a natural part of their being in order to have some chance at their own individual survival...
Humanity does not survive as individuals, but only for a moment lives...Our people are having the life and meaning sucked out of them, and they are forced to live for the moment- if they will live at all- by the form of society we all in some way suufer...Meaning is life, and life is time, and time is money, and money is meaning, and in that great equasion by which people are drained, and tossed away like husks, there is no time for bouncing babies, no time for tender love...
Having children is not an obligation, but it is a right, and since it is for the good of society, society should also bear the cost... Abortion is almost always a matter of money, and it is seldom free...If people who abuse abortion could but for a moment think, they might turn their money and energy to doing good for the living; but a solution wait upon our general willingness to change the entire form of our society into one of life rather than one profiting so much on death, on the trading of life for pennies...
Thanks... Sweeney

Go-dayum Sweeney, you are on a roll. When you say what you are doing is "speaking up on the matter", that's not exactly how I'd describe the body of this very commendable comment. You're shouting it out loud enough for the Universe to hear. God bless you for that. No mistaking the love, thought, passion, and humanity behind your words. Keep shining your light on their soulless hearts, they obviously don't feel, maybe someday they'll see. As always, a pleasure and a privilege to read your comment.

I would never try to tell a woman what she can do with her body! However we are not discussing her body. We are talking about a separate person. One with a different DNA its own heartbeat and brain waves and just like black humans a few years ago they are not human, somehow? If the baby manages to breathe before you are able to kill it as several of the Philadelphia and other late term abortion clinics autopsies showed, then it becomes murder. It would be safer for the mother to simply wait till the kid is out before killing it, do you have a problem with killing them then? If so why? At what point in your mind does the human baby magically turn into one? The availability of free abortions gives people even less reason to act responsibly. No bothering with condoms or pills or any of the other methods of preventing unwanted pregnancies. I knew a woman that had 11 abortions. The pill made her fat, and abortions are free. Funny thing is most of the pro abortion people are completely opposed to the death penalty for murderers and would scream like mad if it was baby seals being killed instead of baby humans. How twisted has our society become?
