In these very tough economic times, the left is calling for "shared sacrifice," which is code for soaking affluent folks as much as possible. You may have heard some radio ads paid for by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) beseeching Americans to support higher taxes on corporations and the wealthy so we can all "share" the economic pain.
That message is incredibly stupid. Higher taxes on corporations will inevitably lead to even more worker layoffs. Also, the less money the affluent have, the less they will spend in places where service employees actually work — like hotels and resorts.
So there seems to be a major "duh" factor in the sacrifice call by the SEIU. But not if you know what's really going on.
That union is a great supporter of far-left causes like open borders, amnesty for illegal aliens and giant government entitlement programs. In addition, the SEIU has taken the lead in attacking the nonunion Wal-Mart corporation and calling for non-secret ballots in union voting. The SEIU is a socialist outfit right down the line. The union doesn't just want you to share their sacrifice, whatever that may be; they want to take your furniture.
One of the SEIU's favorite politicians is Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi. They love her. But these days it doesn't look like Pelosi is doing much sacrificing. According to documents obtained by the watchdog group Judicial Watch through the Freedom of Information Act, Pelosi is racking up enormous mileage on Air Force Gulfstream V jets, costing the taxpayers millions.
My staff asked Pelosi spokesman Brendan Daly exactly how many Air Force jets she's used since becoming speaker in January 2007.
Daly said he didn't have that information.
Oh.
It seems to me that with many Americans getting hammered financially and trillions of dollars being spent to counter the recession, Speaker Pelosi might want to keep track of her taxpayer-funded trips. Am I wrong?
To be fair, Pelosi is legally entitled to the perk. After 9/11, the government decided that the speaker of the House, third in line for the presidency, should not fly commercial. OK. But does anyone think Pelosi is not milking this jet deal? Anyone?
If that's shared sacrifice, I would like to become the speaker's friend. After all, she recently flew to Rome with an entourage. I assume it was aboard an Air Force jet, but I don't know for sure because even though I asked, Pelosi won't tell. (By the way, the Pope scolded Pelosi over abortion during their meeting.)
Are you feeling the sacrifice being made by Pelosi and many other politicians who are living large on the Hill? I'm not feeling it. But like the SEIU, I believe that sharing is good. And with my tax rates going up big time, I have no doubt I'll soon be paying more than my share.

Sir;.... Can you show any natural society on this earth that did not support all its members??? Soaking the rich is an easy thing to say; but what do you expect??? Do you think the rich can take endless value out of a society and never pay it back??? What can't they get if given the time??? If they make a little profit off of every dollar in wages, who is creating the value they take a cut of??? If they take a cut off the bounty of agriculture and the labor of the farmer, who is creating the value???If they loan out at interest money they get from the people at reduced price to all the people at full price so that the whole society -living on short wages can only live on credit; who is creating the value they live on??? The rich have been taking this country for years... I joined the work force near the end of Nixon, and year after year we have been told to take less and tighten our belts, live on little, and expect less from the future, and work, harder, smarter, and faster.... WHO is soaking the rich??? Shall they not pay taxes to the very society that defends their rights, and their property??? Are taxes only for the little people to pay???Did any of the rich consider that the jobs they were laying good people off from still had to support those people??? Do they consider now that the poor, the dispossessed, and the lost still need support even while the profit has gone out of them???Did the rich ever consider what happens when a society exports all its jobs, and imports all its products, and leaves all its population without the means to support themselves??? I'll tell you what I think the people should do...I think they ought to turn the rich out of their homes, their factories, and their offices... I think the poor should take the government, and make the law, and take the military, and enforce their law; and they should give each and every one of the rich a cardboard box and a blanket, and tell them to get used to it...Those people; your rich, have run this society into the mud... We need enough of industry and agriculture to support ourselves... After that we can think about how hard we want to work to have rich people of little worth...Consider, sir; that some day the rich may look back at this time, and think, that all they had to do to keep all their spoils was to pay some taxes... If they will not support their society, then what good are they??? Worse than this; we barely have the means to supply our needs let alone defend ourselves.... The behavior of the rich is not only self serving, but is bordering on treason.... .Thanks...Sweeney

Fed Chairman, Ben Bernanke, stated and I'm quoting ‘We really had no choice in bailout of
AIG!' Yes, Mr. Bernanke, you did have a choice! When AIG received first bailout, why
weren't strict guidelines imposed on them; such as, NO MORE BONUSES, cut ‘CEO fat cat'
salaries, freebies, and retirements to maximum $25,000.00 year. Older employees, offer
them an early retirement package! All other salaries to be cut by at least one-quarter, as a
slice of the pie is better than no slice at all! Mr. Bernanke this includes you and the rest of
politicians! The other option would have been to let AIG file bankruptcy so they could start
over, and maybe this time they would be more concerned and knowledgeable of what it
takes to run a company by tightening their pocketbooks! You see, Mr. Bernanke, bad
choices is what's put America into Bankruptcy and borrowing money from foreign
countries that we can't pay the interest on! Where's the common sense in these matters?
Taxpayers understand Bay of Thailand is buying AIG Retail Bank Company and deal is to
be completed April 2009. Since this is really Taxpayers money, will you and rest of
politicians make sure AIG pay off the trillions of dollars borrowed, without Taxpayers'
consent, to foreign countries?
That brings Taxpayers to the latest for AIG's bonuses and the statement “If we don't pay
them big bonues, they'll sue us!” How dumb you are? It's Taxpayers' money, not yours to
give! It's time for for AIG, Freddie, Fannie, Banks, Automakers and anyone else standing in
line taking Taxpayers money to immediately file Bankruptcy! Enough is Enough!
President Obama's top economic advisers vigorously defends his 3.6 trillion budget! News
flash for you -- “Taxpayers don't defend this nor any of the so-called put people back to
work programs, called infrastructures. I just left a meeting in which one of the ‘economic
advisers' from a bank stated he'd been in DC for a week!” I asked him why he thought
America needed infrastructures if we didn't bring textile and furniture manufacturing jobs
back to America? He stated ‘they' didn't discuss this, just infrastructures! Remember, these
large banks like Citicorp, Wachovia, etc. were bailed out! Taxpayers wonder why we're
bailing them out if politicians continue allowing the ‘economic' idiots to advise them. He
had no answers! Guess what, Mr. Economic Adviser was hoping the floor would open up
and I'd fall through it! You see, all the expert politicians and economists know as much
about ‘thrifty management' as a newborn and this, folks, is the reason for Change and not
Obama's change methods, either!
There seems to be a lot of ‘experts' in government and financial institutions with no
common sense. It's time to run America like a private business; meaning, President, Vice-
President, Secretary, and Treasurer. All these cabinet members collecting huge salaries
and benefits will have to come to an end. Taxpayers know it's time to cut salaries to
$12,000.00 yearly for all politicians. After all, these Public Servant jobs give less than 30
days of service and, in today's world of mismanagement, deceit and greed, so this is more
money than they deserve.
Why aren't we prosecuting the people handing out Taxpayers monies and the people
who's receiving it? The reasons being very clear-who's collecting and benefiting!
WAKE UP AMERICA!
