Fight Back Against Big Oil

So now we have the presidential candidates running around telling voters that they will help solve the problem of high gas prices. Well, if you believe that, you'll believe that Hugo Chavez drives a Yugo. It's just bull.

Both Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama are calling for "investigations" into "price gouging" by American oil companies. Good. There's plenty of price manipulation going on and, under Presidents Bush and Clinton, little federal oversight. If a big oil company wants to tighten supply, for example, it's a snap. Just slow down the refinery process by ordering extra "maintenance" or something.

But who is going to investigate Sens. Obama and Clinton on their opposition to oil drilling? The Democratic Party has consistently opposed new drilling and nuclear energy, as well. Even the dedicated liberal governments in France and Sweden bought into nuclear. But not the American left, no way.

On the Republican side, President Bush has done absolutely nothing about rising gas prices, which is part of the reason his approval rating is approaching 20 percent. He blames the Democrats. Fine. But the president should be telling all Americans to cut back their gas consumption by 15 percent. He should be urging us to use less gas. That would at least cut into big oil's record profit margins.

Sen. John McCain proposes a gas tax "holiday" this summer. True, that would save the folks a few bucks, but it would also add to the massive spending deficit.

The government better start balancing the budget soon, before Haagen-Dazs becomes more valuable than the U.S. currency.

The sad truth is that both political parties have sold out the folks. For decades, economists knew China and India were industrializing, and that those countries would demand much greater amounts of oil. Everybody knew that OPEC would slow down production and gouge the world if it could, and of course, now it can.

But if Americans would get angry and begin punishing the oil bandits, prices would drop. However, we are often a selfish people. We want those gas-guzzling Hummers and SUVs, and we're paying a big price for that, above and beyond the sticker.

If I were president, I'd be on every program, leading the charge to buy less gas, urging folks to conserve energy in creative ways. I'd create peer pressure against the guzzle crowd. I'd name the names of greedy oil company CEOs making tens of millions of dollars while working folks suffer.

We need leadership on this energy business or it is going to cripple our economy. Our energy incompetence has already empowered our enemies.

So let's get angry out there. We the people can do this. Big oil is not looking out for us. Let's stop rewarding it.

US FIGHTS BACK ON GAS AND OIL PRICES!!! June 30th 08 Just read below for more info!
Hello America,
My name is Jason and I am a small business owner that works in the IT industry. I have to fill up at least 1-2 times a week do to business. I have been putting this blog off long enough.... Please AMERICA, Please read this very carefully and understand that if we don't act know then it will be too late. What I propose is that we as "A UNITED AMERICA" work together instead of against each other. We should all AS ONE not fuel our CARS, TRUCKS, TRACTORS, PLANES, TRAINS, ALL THAT USES FUEL AND OIL.... For one day!!!! DO NOT FILL YOUR VEHICLES. That shall show how much we depend on it and maybe we can find a new resolution to a new fuel. For instance we all should know but most don't that Australia has been growing CORN crops since 1975 and has never had to depend on anyone else to supply them with fuel... THEY RELY ON THEIR OWN STATE, NOT FOREIGN POLICY TO BENEFIT THEIR OWN POCKETS!!!! I am not anti-government but this needs slow down or stop before it hits 8-10 a gallon by the end of this year. That alone will put OUR economy into such a depression( IT WILL BE THE WORST IN HISTORY). So many families will not be able to even get to work. As I write this today, I live near Houston and the news is saying that their own transit (METRO) system cannot even handle the amount of people due to the current gas prices right now. That is so sad... So please try this so maybe OUR US OF A can get there act together and stop the madness!!!! Expand more room for CORN CROPS than NUCLEAR POWER!!!! Are you trying to destroy mankind itself even faster than it is supposed to be as it is written.. I don't think so, please AMERICA I am only a small pion on this earth and I need people to help all they can. The more that help the more they will listen, and just maybe we can slow down EVERYTHING just a little bit and remember that LIFE is a gift that we do take for granted, but if we try to use all the knowledge that God has given us we will survive. If not , well get ready for a rough ride, we only caused it to ourselves, so we can learn and try to change what and where we have gone wrong in time itself. I do appreciate you all reading my blog and please it is up to you as a person to do the right thing!! Thank you all again and God Bless to ALL!!

As an American Wall Street is still controlling our lives. high oil prices again. There is 6 million barrels of oil out there. Yet Wall Street is still able to speculate. Its not just Oil it is also American Corporations who are operating over
seas with slave labor. And wanting to sell the product over seas, so they are illegally keeping the U.S. dollar weak. After the 2008 economy crashed. I realized how much wall street controls all Americans lives. IT NEEDS TO STOP. Or Americans need to come to their senses to protest in the millions and stop sitting back and taking it. yesterday Oil was at $79.00 a barrel today march 16,2010 over $82.00 per barrel. Its sickening.

It must be known that Big OIl through the 401 k program hosted by The Oil States of America are going to try nad recoup their loses by exacting their loss on their shareholders. Obama sent a bill to BP for 87 million dollars do you think that BP is going to pay for that out of their own pockets? No that wouldnt make anysense and they would be losing more money. So if I were you or knew someone that had shareholdings in The Oil States of America I would guard your investment very closely as they (BP) will be sending in it's brigades to force people to quit their jobs and then in order to survive the person will be forced to use their 401 k money to put gas into their vehicles to find another job when their regular savings have been depleted. Guard your 401k's America they are coming and their stench is strong.

WHY DID WE GO TO WAR IN IRAQ?
It certainly wasn't for weapons of mass destruction.
Journalists write brilliantly about reasons for the war in Iraq and their words are but fading echoes. But capture war in a picture and a single image can confer iconic immortality, telling the truth to generations to follow.
Life Magazine told our story at Pearl Harbor, Iwo Jima, Dachau, Inchon and Tet.
Now comes a simple, somber epitaph of America's Iraq misadventure, distilled into a 30 second video by Stan Cotton on YouTube.com.
Cotton, an ad man known for going against the grain of conventional advertising wisdom, usually works for clients. Now he is the client on his own mission.
"Laying it line shocks people," Cotton said. "When I put my "Iraq War Reality Check" video on www.joinfoil.org I knew that I had a message that was powerful without being heavy-handed. It plants the seed of an idea and leaves the viewer to nurture it. I would hope this message starts conversations in the classroom and over the dinner table."
The video opens with words from a Commander in Chief to sailors assembled on the flight deck of an aircraft carrier.
"Major combat operations have ended," he intones.
The carrier deck gives way to Arlington National Cemetery under autumn skies and before us are row upon row of tombstones with new tombstones popping up to extend the row. A saxophone and dirgeful piano mourn the loss of American lives as an automobile odometer clicks off the dead, and more simple white military tombstones keep appearing and marching across the screen.
Then we notice something not quite right about those new tombstones:
Each comes with its own little gas nozzle & hose.
"When is enough...Enough to make Congress Oil-free" a voiceover asks.
Here's the link to take you to the 30 second video.

Or, http://www.joinfoil.org/iraqwarvideo.html The rest is up to you.

Think gas prices are the only problem?? Think again. I have lived on 5 acres in a small community for nearly 30 years. Hoped to retire and raise free range organic chickens and organic market garden. Now Berry Petroleum will be taking over 3 of my 5 acres to drill an oil well. I knew nothing about mineral rights when I purchased the land but it seems that although I paid for the land, it is theirs to do with as they will for as LONG as they willl. They do not have to have my permission, repair their damages, pay me for the loss of property value NOTHING!! I HAVE NO RIGHTS in this BIG OIL state ! The same has happened all over this little community. We are getting new oil wells every 660 feet or so. Texas citizens need to get to work on the law NOW or they will ALL have an oil well in their backyard.
