Steve Breen wins second Pulitzer
On April 20, Creators Syndicate’s Steve Breen was awarded the 2009 Pulitzer Prize for Editorial Cartooning. Judges said Breen was selected “for his agile use of a classic style to produce wide-ranging cartoons that engage readers with power, clarity and humor.”

"I think Steve is being recognized because, in addition to being a great cartoonist, he frequently tackles issues that no one else is even considering," said Creators Syndicate CEO Rick Newcombe. "His cartoons are always unique."

The award is the second Pulitzer Prize for Breen, the staff editorial cartoonist for the San Diego Union-Tribune, who won his first in 1998. He joins Mike Luckovich, Michael Ramirez and Paul Szep as Creators Syndicate editorial cartoonists with two Pulitzer Prizes.

Creators Syndicate editorial cartoonist Mike Thompson was also a finalist for this year’s award.
