Scary Gary Brings a Feast of Fright to the Funnies.
Creators Syndicate launched Scary Gary, the highly anticipated, darkly humorous comic strip from Mark Buford on June 16th. The comic, which centers around Gary the vampire and his demonic sidekick Leopold as they try to adjust to life in the suburbs, debuted on Creators.com and in 20-30 newspaper markets.

Prior to the comic's launch, however, Buford's name had already been buzzing in the ears of B-movie fans and throughout the science fiction community. The macabre humor and monstrous characters make the comic a natural favorite with sci-fi fans, and Buford sat down with John C. Snider of www.scifidimensions.com prior to the comic's launch.

You can find the podcast here. In it Buford fills in listeners and fans on the ins and outs of horror's new heroes, the cast of Scary Gary. (Scary Gary content begins at 41:36 - approximately 41 minutes into the podcast).

In the podcast, Buford offers a glimpse not only into his influences -- the comics and the people who have inspired him -- but also into the inspiration for Scary Gary, how the innovative comic was picked up by a syndicate and the creative process Buford uses to create the strip each day.

Buford also offers some inside information about the cast and the comic that no fans of the horror or comic genre should miss. With Gary and Leopold joined by Travis, a severed head in a jar, and a parade of other supernatural beings, suburban life won't know what bit it.
