And He's Off! David Sirota's
With a mere two weeks since its publication, David Sirota's, "The Uprising: An Unauthorized Tour of the Populist Revolt Scaring Wall Street and Washington" hit The New York Times best-seller list Sunday at No. 20.

Though Sirota is no stranger to the NYT best-seller list - having clenched a coveted position in 2006 with "Hostile Takeover" - "The Uprising" continues to rise to the top of critics' lists and with little pre-publication promoting, quickly usurped (by six slots) Sen. Jim Webb's highly publicized recent release on the list.

In May, Creators reported on the early accolades and prescient reviews received by the book. Kudos continue to rain on Sirota as he parlays political partisanship into a thought-provoking populist ethos - felt by the nation but often ignored by mainstream journalists.

Both The Washington Post and the Rocky Mountain News elucidated the sentiment in two separate reviews handed down June 4 and June 12 respectively.

The Washington Post hailed Sirota's style by announcing, "Sirota's writing has none of the severity that stains much partisan prose. … "The Uprising" is a hard book to dislike or dismiss. Sirota reports cleverly and in pleasing detail about a complex world of political conflict that the journalistic throng obsessed with presidential candidates and their handlers seldom notices."

The Rocky Mountain News quickly followed suit with an A review of both the book and the man.

"Sirota … is a true 21st-century political journalist. Between blogs and articles covering progressive issues in traditional media, he's a new voice in a heavily populated policy critic field. … His book examines both the right and left wings of the uprising, making it the perfect tome for rebels of all persuasions."

The New York Times best-seller list reflects nationwide sales from a wide array of book retailers and is known for catapulting writers into the limelight. With "The Uprising" already making the list, expect to see Sirota quickly rise to the top of his game.
