Today is the Day of the Dead. Although most associated with Mexico, it is also commemorated in Latin America, Spain and the Philippines. It does appear, though, that the day originates with an Aztec festival dedicated to the goddess Mictecacihuatl, queen of the underworld. She is thought to have inspired La Calavera Catrina, a skeletal woman in a nice dress and hat who is now associated with the day.

Tom Waddell, who represented the United States in decathlon in the 1968 Mexico City Olympics, went on to found the Gay Games in 1982. It was originally called the Gay Olympics, but the IOC had issues with this. The 2006 edition was supposed to be in Montreal, but after a fight over financing, the 2006 Gay Games were awarded to Chicago, instead.

Montreal retaliated by founding the World Outgames.

In the 1820s, Christian Jorgensen Thomsen proposed a system for dividing human prehistory into all but which of these ages?
