A Brand Nude Day: Tomorrow is World Naturist Day, although it seems to be celebrated mostly in Britain. Naturism, or nudism, appears to have originated in Germany, as part of the fitness movement. A German immigrant, Kurt Barthel, founded the American League for Physical Culture in the United States, after organizing the first American nudist event in New York in 1929. The word "naturism," however, is meant to indicate harmony with the environment.

Jessica Tandy: Tomorrow would be the 100th birthday of Jessica Tandy. The British-born actor was married to Canada's Hume Cronyn for 52 years, one of Hollywood's few successful celebrity marriages.

She came to attention on Broadway as Blanche DuBois, but was the only significant cast member not to appear in the film version of "A Streetcar Named Desire." She finally won her Oscar for "Driving Miss Daisy," becoming the oldest actor to win.
