One Eye on My Pocket: You hardly ever see people wearing eye patches anymore, although they are still used to treat "lazy eye." Sailors in general, and pirates in particular, wore eye patches, not only to cover up lost eyes, but so that one eye would be "set" above deck and the other "set" for the darkened areas below decks. Famous fictional eye patch wearers include the Hathaway Man, Nick Fury, Bazooka Joe, Snake Plissken and Rooster Cogburn.

Science Turns on Darwin: No, not that one. Charles Darwin developed a widely accepted theory of evolution. His son George Darwin was not so lucky. His theory that the moon was pulled from the Earth is not widely accepted at all.

To his credit, a lot of people noticed that the moon seems to be roughly the size of the Pacific Ocean. And the moon has to come from somewhere. Who knows? Maybe George's wacky theory of lunar creationism will turn out to be right after all.
