Park the Car: Today is Car Free Day. In 1994, Eric Britton proposed a car-free day as part of a speech at the Accessible Cities Conference in Toledo. The idea spread through Europe and reached North America in 2001, when Toronto had itself a car-free day. Going car-free is not only good for the environment, but good for your health if you can walk or cycle to work. You can also try car pooling.

Reimagining Battlestars: In the 1970s, Glen Larson developed "Battlestar Galatica," which was inspired in part by Mormon beliefs. In 2003, the show returned to TV, but as an entirely new, darker version. In this new series, Edward James Olmos took over Lorne Greene's old role, and the original Capt.

Apollo took on a new role as a revolutionary. Incidentally, Olmos had been in the running to play the captain on "Star Trek: Next Generation."
