Today, it is celebrated with flag-hoisting ceremonies and colorful pageants.

The Sacred Shopping List: We've been on a bit of a science fiction kick this week. One of our favorites is Walter Miller's "A Canticle for Leibowitz," a post-apocalyptic tale about the rebuilding of religion.
